Taking out the moon rock in Mecca, plus Medina with small thermonukes during the Haj without warning will not get muslims together. Rather, it will have the opposite effect.
The prime tenant of Islam is that allah is absolute, managing everything down to the molecular level. And is therefore the true god.
Allowing his sacred rock to be nuked would prove to muslims that allah is a false god, and they would all convert to Christianity, Judaism, or atheism.
There was an article to this effect back in 2001-02, after they hit NYC, by some reporter who interviewed known muslim fighters (in Iraq?). They were asked what they would do in the event that Mecca and Medina were nuked by the US. As far as they were concerned, Islam would be no more, having been shown to be a false religion.
