Only if New York City goes with them to Spain. Take the NY/PR leadership as well - package deal.

Imagine the taxes a country like Spain would put on them. Hmm...that's a thought. Not to mention the taxes the EU would levy.

" Starting today, the Puerto Rico Reunification with Spain Movement (MRE) is an officially-constituted group after its first assembly was attended by less than 40 people whose common interest is to make the Caribbean island a Spanish province." Not much of a movement yet with only 40 supporters.

Go for it Puerto Rico!
Think of what you can get!
- Shiny new maroon EU passports
- Cool colorful Euro currency
- Barcelona soccer jerseys
- Ricky Martin in the Eurovision Song Contest
- Legal Bullfights!

hell of a better idea than making it America’s 51st state.
NO commonality.
Why the heck would Spain even want it?

Let Spain have it. Just make sure that Geraldo Rivera goes with it.
But leave Kimberly Guilfoile here.

Don’t worry about some of these clowns. Lately many of them believe that everyone with a Spanish last name isn’t a real American. They seem to forget that many of the people in New Mexico can trace their roots in this land to the 1500’s. Many in Texas and California to the 1700’s, and that Puerto Rico has been a US territory for over 100 years. They also forget that thousands of men with Spanish last names have given their lives in the service to our great republic. Many here choose to ignore these basic facts. Semper Fi brother.

Buh-bye, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
Oh, hope you folks in Spain like supporting these folks.
We also need to revoke US citizenship for all Puerto Ricans; if some want to stay citizens, make them re-apply. However, we cannot allow them ALL to remain citizens (i.e. support them) while a Spanish (or any other country’s) flag flies above that soil. NO citizenship for anyone accepting benefits from the federal government (and, no, Social Security and Medicare are not benefits any more than a military pension and VA care is, those were earned).

Actually, I wonder if this might strike a chord that simple independence doesn’t. Reunification puts them out of reach of Washington. It makes them EU. It makes them Spain. Whereas independence risks them becoming DR.

That's a good start. But the main act will be reunifying MEXICO with Spain.
To: sickoflibs
Be careful, they may want California too. While I would be all for giving Spain Mexico, California grows a lot of our food other than that, they could have CA as well.
