Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has lost his aide after a strike on the ISIS-held city of Mosul, in northern Iraq, the Iraqi defense ministry said Thursday.
Another ISIS figure was also declared dead, the ministry added.
Iraq and the United States have both been carrying out airstrikes against ISIS targets, after the militant group seized large parts of the countrys north and west.
The U.S., which began carrying out airstrikes in Iraq in early August after its troop withdrawal in 2011, is now taking the lead in attempts to form an international coalition to intensify strikes against ISIS militants.
Today, UK Prime Minister David Cameron indicated his country might be willing to join such an effort, in remarks at the opening of this weeks NATO summit in Wales.
Baghdadi, who was a prominent figure in the Sunni extremist response to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the later Sunni insurgency, has declared himself the caliph of an Islamic State in the territories his organization has seized in Iraq and northeastern Syria.
He has been leader of ISIS since it was formed in 2013, and was previously the leader of ISISs predecessor, the Islamic State of Iraq.
Who's got their eye out for Mullah Omar?
Bury his body in pig lard.
Use lard in every bomb.
This will awaken “ moderate Muslims” to stop this nonsense.
The real leader of Al Qeada, Al Zawahri, was formerly Muslim Brotherhood. He is the mastermind behind all this. Obama has no efforts to find his Muslim Brotherhood buddy
Anyone know if it was a little Drone?
ISIS Leader’s Top Aide?
Was he standing on a golf course?
Omar retired and turned the job over. What’s so interesting is the fact that we couldn’t catch him while he was the Taliban’s top commander. Come on, I thought those drones are so powerful and have super-vision, but apparently not much better in some cases than a regular fighter jet. That, or Omar figured how to dress up like a regular Afghan/Pakistani.
Because it’s so easy to find a crippled old guy on dialysis in a Pakistan home. On the other hand, a guy who can move, and who has no problem dressing up well enough to not be distinct as a field commander, combine that with limited physical troop presence and the depth into the mountains, and well, getting these guys is like trying to hit a needle in a haystack with a .22 pistol from 40 feet away. It appears that the same means of hiding from hits by fighter jets or cruise missiles works pretty well in hiding from UAVs too.
Lots of chance for advancement, but the retirement plan stinks.
Same with Omar, nobody can find him either.

Yeah, let’s get ole Ayman while we are making all these terrorist groups “more manageable.” He’s been above room temperature for far too long. His 72 virgins are probably approaching 50!
Personally I do not think any one important was killed. This is obama/democrat party/corrupt news media putting out fake stories to prop obama up. See the story about how the Egyptian gov’t is being pressured by obama to include terrorists in the gov’t. He does not want to kill the terrorists.
One down...19,999 to go.
The media always has been a machine for convincing us as to how good our politicians are handling the war effort. However, they get really grossly incompetent when it comes to their stories being made obselete shortly after. I remember when Clinton boasted in 1999 about how his missile was going to incinerate bin Laden to bits in Sudan, only to have bin Laden show up in video saying he was perfectly okay and not even associated with said Sudan camp. Plus promising he would hand out retribution to the United States, I can only presume that retribution was 9/11.
They need to nail that bum leader of Poco Harrum or whatever t is called.
