It's unclear what happened before the video started, but what happened afterward one parent could only describe as "terrifying."
Video shot by a parent of a Quinsigamond Elementary School student Wednesday afternoon of what should have been a routine school bus stop showed young children crying and screaming, seemingly unable to leave the school bus they were riding in as parents shouted at the driver to let them off.
In the video, shot near the corner of Perry Ave. and Harlem Street by parent Jessica Jimenez, parents curse and shout at the driver asking why she won't let the kids off while children complain that they're unable to leave. The bus door is seen shut with some kids standing near a couple of the open windows.
...
A statement from the school department also paints a different picture of the incident.
"The driver was attempting to ensure that kindergarten students were matched with the proper parent before releasing them from the school bus," the statement reads. Parents became impatient and insisted that the driver release all the students immediately. When the driver refused, one or more parents started to enter the school bus. The driver informed them that adults are not allowed on the school bus with students on board. They refused to leave and the driver was instructed by the Durham supervisor to close the entrance door. Parents broke the door and entered the school bus."
The statement goes on to state that "the school bus driver was also physically assaulted, struck at least two times in the face."

Like some parents in the video you seem to harbor a lot of anger. Not good for the soul. May God grant you peace.
I like your tagline.
That being said, there may have been many reasons why this incident occurred. There may have been non-custodial parents present, parents at the wrong spot, the driver not recognizing parents, or a parent doing something the driver felt could jeopardize the safety of the kids getting off. It was wrong for the parents to break the door and assault the driver.
For the record, I have a four year degree. I also under went a thorough background check, as well as months of training, before I ever got near any kids. Not all drivers are the dregs of the earth. The majority are people who take their jobs seriously and care for the kids they transport.
I cant imagine that the school didnt hold an orientation that would explain all of its policies, especially for kindergarten kids. That or send home a handout explaining the procedures to be used.
***
And just how many of these foul-mouthed jerks do you think attended the orientation? How many actually read such a handout?
+1
I remember “bus evacuation drills” in school. They stopped using the emergency exit after someone got hurt. Even when they did they had a nurse and the principal observing and two trained drivers or whatnot helping each student out the back and the wheels were chocked. I can only imagine the risk these parents put their kids in pulling them out the back.
it’s a self-reminder...
That bus driver is trying to leave with my meal ticket!
The chances of "stranger danger" is miniscule but the above scenario happens every day. That's why schools do this stuff. If I were locked in a nasty custody battle I would want the school to treat my kid carefully too.
Oh my. I hope you have a nice weekend.
These parents are feral pigs
You have to assume a couple of things:
1) These ‘parents’ actually attended the orientation.
2) They actually think that the procedures apply to them.
I have been active in the school PTO (including as an officer). You would be surpised how many parents have no clue what is going on...it is not for lack of information by the school administration, PTO, you name it.
Some of the neighborhoods are not places that I would want to visit.
It’s unbelievable.
That’s for sure. One of the ritzy neighborhoods in Holden had their development sign tagged recently. It’s spreading. If they’re smart they won’t come to Rutland, we could use the fertilizer.
Some parents are going to jail for their actions..as they should.
I’m glad that I don’t live any closer to Worcester.
Stop! You are adding facts and reason to a rant against public schools and bus drivers. That must not be tolerated on FR! Public schools are the devil! You are the devil for driving kids to a public school! I am the devil for sending my children to public schools!
(My kids’ bus driver is a very good woman. She has called me personally to tell me how good my kids are. She takes great care with my autistic son and ensures that he is dropped off to the proper person at school every morning before she leaves. But she is the devil because she works for a public school...don’t forget that.)
Australian Men Board School Bus Shouting Kill the Jews and Were Going to Cut Your Throats
Wow, that’s not what you’d expect of Australians. (j/k, I know nobody is allowed to say “Moslem.”)
