Problem is that as a parent if your child arrives by bus and some driver decides to hold them hostage you are put in a situation of having to save the kids in your mind.
Now if the bus driver had more some training or more than two brain cells he would have smiled, got up and said give me a minute and will pair all these great kids with their parents and get going.
This was a problem brought on by stupidity.
Boy I used to jump the fence to get to my school. The school was in the backyard of my friend, so we used the gate in the fence to get to class... used it from first grade to eighth. Only time I been on a bus was for kindergarten and during high school sporting events.
I was under the impression that it has been ruled that vehicles are not considered “property” like a house.
Why the hell wouldn’t the driver let the kids off?
I can’t get the video to load...
“... walked to school uphill each way through snow ...”
-
I have been in that conversation and it ultimately ended with...
“I was born as an orphan in a cave that I had to dig by myself.”
if that driver let one little kid get lost or forgotten or taken by a stranger she would be crucified....
I think those so called "parents" out there cat calling and swearing so accelerated the situation that the children became more and more panicked...
not once in my life have I ever heard anyone refer to their child as "my f*cking kid"......what kind of parents are these?
the coarseness of our culture just continues exponetially...
Yes, fear is very limiting for many people. It’s never going to be a risk-free world, and a lot of people don’t realistically evaluate risks. A child is more likely to die in an accident in his mother’s car on the way to school (especially if she’s on her Smartphone) than he is to be shot at school, and yet parents aren’t afraid to text and drive. He’s more likely to drown in the bathroom than to be kidnapped off the sidewalk by a stranger, but people take baths all the time without ever thinking of the danger.
School systems and other large entities are weirdly constrained by their fear of lawsuits. If there’s a rule that seems really senseless, it’s probably because someone sued.
You sound like you are used to getting what you want.
From what I’ve been able to gather in reading the various accounts, the driver had called in “the trouble” was waiting for the police to arrive. Why? apparently some of the “guardians” were also not willing to wait to get what they wanted, thus creating an unsafe scenario.
This was one of the 1st days of school; the driver doesn’t know any of the parents or kids, so she was playing it safe.
Sorry if that doesn’t agree with you sensibilities...

Worcester has changed. Big time. Gone is the safe city and good schools. Gunshots, drugs and a huge influx of people from elsewhere.
Old neighborhoods are troubled and run down. Liberal Democrats rule. The place is now nothing like it once was. It is a mess.
I was going to go on an angry rant against the government-worshipping OP and how children belong to the parent, damn the schools, but after reading your clear-headed and posts I’m glad I refrained.
Even though right was on the side of the parents in the video, they (understandably so) lost their tempers. When people get visibly angry and lash out, even though they have every reason to, it often distorts perception of the truth.
Truth is: When a person keeps other people’s children on a non-moving bus (even if the windows are open) on one of the hottest and most humid days of the years for 15-20 minutes, kids are going to get hot and upset, parents are going to panic, and it doesn’t help that the driver tries to drive away.
The school district ultimately was to blame for this. The bus driver was obviously incapable of doing the dual job of driving and making sure each child was matched with a parent in a timely manner. A bus monitor should have been there to help out for the first few days of school.
Children belong to their families, not the government. It’s weird seeing so much government support here, though. I guess some think that if a parent is from an urban area and curses in anger that nullifies the right of the parent.

Wow! You nailed it!
The person with the phone is 100% incapable of capturing action in a video. 100%.
Even before the excitement heated up and she started running around the bus, she never got a single clear shot of what was going on. Not once.
Grade on this video assignment: F-
And the “State” will take over the care of the children. We have moved so far away from being a free country. Meanwhile China and Russia are becoming more free than the USA is
Heck, that even beats my dad’s biography.
Indeed.
Can you imagine if a child was taken off this very bus by someone who was NOT a parent or guardian. . .oh boy. . .these same animals would be howling and ranting like, well, animals, and demand the bus driver be thrown in prison (if not murdered)..
Cursive? We had to use dry alphabet noodles glued to brown construction paper. I forgot to mention my walk to kindergarten was barefoot, also :>)
Perhaps. . .but the child “deserves what he gets.”
Really?
