If "they" really wanted to, "they" probably already could, for those using credit, debit or EBT cards.

"Oh, gee, Mr. Smith, I see from your purchase history you've already met your allowable maximum of Cheese Puffs and Cherry Coke this month. I'm afraid I won't be able to ring those up for you today. Perhaps you'd like to replace them with something from our vegan and organic aisle?"

Especially when it has all been altered to the point of no taste but will last forever in it's tasteless petrified state. When was the last time a person could go to a produce stand and buy produce that tasted as good as it did even twenty years ago? Oranges that are dried out inside, apples that never ripen and seldom sweet, tomatos you can almost use for baseballs they are so hard and dried inside, radishes that either burn your lips off, are rotten, or 100% bland in taste, you name it the seed companies have destroyed it in the name of shipping modifications.
