Like many disorganized amateur movements, they could be destroyed in short order the a professional military like ours, supported with air power, communications and massive firepower. Obama won’t do that, though, he will hit them with a few pinpricks. We may not be in a position to so easily destroy them by the time we finally are rid of Obama.
Wiping out ISIS isn’t a matter of strategy, tactics, opportunity, geography, demography or anything else.
It is simply a matter of will.
0bama doesn’t have the will.
0bama prefers an ISIS thorn in our sides, and will do not quite enough forever.
Oceana vs. Eurasia — Just like in 1984.
The Sunni tribes are likely to continue to pay, because any proposed partitioning of Iraq will give the Kurds the oil in the north, the Shi'ites the oil in the east, and the Sunnis the sand in the west. It didn't have to be that way. Or I don't know, maybe it did.
Obama fiddling away the TIME has cost the lives of tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians and the extinction of Iraqi Christians, and TIME for the beheadings of two journalists, all of which has brought the media and the civilized world on board.
Now there is a rise mustered of a coalition of nations, AND deference to the US wishes by the new Iraq government, AND a cornered Congress forced by Obama to a vote which makes them share in the reponsibility for taking increasing action.
Increasing air strikes and with all boots on the ground filled by fighting Arabs, and with the support of a competent coalition, and a supportive Western media, and a pleased American public wanting action may leave Obama smelling like a rose.
All because he fiddled, hundreds of thousands died and now the result is action. Go figure.
