If only liberals would pick a single liberal utopian state and all go there.

Wait until ebola hits Calipornia. Employers will be extra-crispy devastated.

“Uh, Mr. Smith? This is Jones. I’m not feeling well and won’t be coming in today. I have a fever, a headache...and I’m bleeding from my eyes.”

Such a bill is justifiable under the 10th Amendment. I’m not trying to be mean to California business owners, but if such owners, probably a voting minority, don’t like the law then they can do the following.

They can vote with their feet and move their businesses to other states like former California business owners have been doing.

Just the thing to encourage more businesses to move to the 50th most business-unfriendly state in the union.

And just as soon as Californicate can locate Obama’s remaining 7 states, California will make sure to advance to 57th in the rankings for freedom and economic opportunity. (Hint: there are 57 states and terrorist organizations in the international Islamic Conference)

Really, this is good news.

Businesses will flee California in droves. The beneficiaries will be consumers in other states.

Do they get paid $15 an hour for being “sick”?

I personally like it when an employer offers some sick leave, but...
this is not the state’s business (other than for its own state employees, of course)

at any event, since California has driven up its costs of doing business (and living) to stratospheric levels,
about all this bill will do is cause more layoffs

it will also keep more jobs from coming into California, too

alas, for a legislature that understands basic economics..?

I wonder if employers could require a doctors visit with excuse each time someone is sick.
Otherwise, this is just a forced wage increase. In fact, a wage increase is preferable for employers because sick days are unpredictable and require employers to pay for a replacement or reduce the workload.

Robots don't get sick.

They don't go on strike for $15 an hour.

And they don't vote (although I'm sure the Democrats are working on it)

True, and we read that half or more of SillyCon valley engineers are foreigners (and this now goes for new start up firms too). Also the majority of home sales in many cities in the Bay Area are to foreigners ( leading realtor reports three-quarters of his sales are, mostly to communist Chinese). So the sillyCon valley economy is not a local American phenomenon nowadays.
