More districts skipping meat on Mondays
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | September 9, 2014 | by Jill Tucker

Mondays have become meat free in hundreds of school cafeterias across the Bay Area, a move praised by animal rights activists and environmentalists and condemned by the livestock industry for pushing politics into the lunch line.

South San Francisco Unified joined the Meatless Monday movement this year, joining Oakland, West Contra Costa and several other districts that have adopted the campaign within the last few years.

District officials say it's all about improving student nutrition and drawing attention to alternative sources of protein.

I’m a bit confused about the whole Animal Rights Movement. It seems just to be an absurd and radical extension of be kind to animals, but maybe I’m missing something.

The Left doesn’t believe that Mankind is God’s special creation and not an animal. So by their definition human beings are animals. So any Animal Rights Movement is simply a Human Rights Movement in disguise, correct?

Note the diff between the reaction of the men of Texas in the preceding link and the metrosexuals of San Gaycisco.

No matter, Mexifornia will be doomed by either the big one or being left out of the New United States.

Nope, there is no such thing as "animal rights", only God given HUMAN Rights.

By creating fictitious "animal rights" the left can negate Human Rights and rescind what God has granted to humans, clever, no?

The British government had two fish days a week...to help out the fishing industry.

I would suppose the Church "adopted" the idea along with a command that unless we do that, we'll go to hell.

Yes, I am sure that is why they picked Mondays and not Fridays. Can ‘t have any holdovers from Christianity. All for Gaia now.

LOL!
I picture the results of feeding lots of beans to schoolchildren...

Wholesome gruel for breakfast and nutritious beans for lunch, ‘thank you Uncle Sam!’.

When I was at Southern Miss, the only day I would eat in the cafeteria was Fridays. All you could eat seafood including shrimp.

The price was very cheap too.

What, they didn’t have grits, collard greens, cornbread and catfish on other days?

When I was at Troy I ate at the training table. They regularly had turnips and cornbread. We also had steak twice a week.

I normally am not crazy about turnips but theirs were really good. Always cooked with a lot of pork.
