Obama Administration Says U.S. Is 'At War' With ISIS (until tomorrow)

The Obama administration said for the first time Friday that the United States is “at war” with ISIS militants.

Josh Earnest, the White House press secretary, used the language at least three times during his daily briefing with reporters. “The U.S. is at war with ISIL in the same way the U.S. is at war with al Qaeda,” he said, using an alternate acronym for the group.

Minutes earlier, a Pentagon spokesman, Rear Adm. John Kirby, used similar terminology. “This is not the Iraq war of 2002,” he told reporters. “But, make no mistake, we know we are at war with ISIL, in the same way we are at war and continue to be at war with al Qaeda and its affiliates.”

This administration can spin its “core principles” on a dime. Why does anyone even listen any more?

Grab a declaration of war from Congress and use the Geneva Convention rules about spies and saboteurs to military tri-em, get the intel we need and hang them.

But Jean Francois just said that we weren't “at war” with ISIS, or is it ISIL, or PAXIL?

That this was a “terrorist interdiction effort,” or some such formulation.

Now I am confused. Curse ye, 0bama, for yer subtle nuance is a fair bit too clever for a low information voter such as myself.

“This is not the Iraq war of 2002,”

Then, why is he trying to use the Bush Declaration of War?

Illegal? Obama Wants to Use Bush's 2001 War Authorization to Justify Attacks on ISIS

So HIS name will not be on a Declaration of War. That way, if things go bad, he can blame Bush. If his base complains, he can claim he never signed a Declaration of War.

Another example of his campaigning against his own policies and actions. What a guy!

I will know we are really at war when congress declares a policy of death to terrorists until they beg for mercy. THAT would be war, nothing less than that is weakness.

Trouble is no one on this site ‘trusts’ BO.

I believe him when he says ISIL (everyone else calls it ISIS) will be but a memory shortly.

Just like HE (alone again, naturally) annihilated Al Qaeda, Personally ‘got’ Bin Laden, he will also bring ISIL to its knees.

What will happen is ISIL/ISIS/??? will just change its name.

When they become ‘Arabs are us’ BO will stand and say ISIS is no longer. Mission accomplished.
