It's still summer, but a snowstorm blanketed parts of Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana and Colorado, setting early snowfall records in some places, covering lawns and flower gardens and providing a preview of what is to come.
The snowstorm dumped up to 20 inches of snow in parts of Wyoming on Wednesday and Thursday and sent overnight temperatures plummeting into the 20s in some areas.
While snow in September is rare, it isn't unusual for ...
it was the earliest snowfall on record for parts of Wyoming and southwest South Dakota. Temperatures hovered around freezing in Denver, forcing many gardeners to wrap their plants for protection.
Hard frosts were reported in western Montana. Kalispell reported a record low of 23 degrees Friday morning while Missoula's record low was 25, compared with 28 in 1988.

My ex wife said “the earth has a fever”
I, for one did not believe her.
She caused me pain, woe and strife.
And that’s why she is now my “ex” wife.

Omygosh! Farmers Almanac is more accurate than all the climatologists at the church of settled science!
But . but .. Buttttt....
The Earth has a feeeeee..ver.
Mt. Rushmore got a good coating..
Where’s 0bama’s mug?
As the earth warms up, it cools down (or something).
You think the Clintons would ever let that happen 8-?
Because it is warm elsewhere, that means it can be cold where you’re at. Therefore, warm creates cold.
A really neat syllogism that should be taught everywhere.
Because it is stupid somewhere, that means it can be smart where you’re at. Therefore, stupid creates smart.
Which we all know to be true. If it weren’t for liberals, mental defects wouldn’t look so bright, and conservatives wouldn’t look like brainiacs.
George’s wig got powdered?
algore is not the problem! The problem is with the idiots who believe him!!!!
“Black Hills.........we got between six and eight inches here. Waarmed up today and its nearly all gone. It was really pretty while it lasted. Ive seen earlier snows here in years past.”
You must be lower down.
West of Hill City near Deerfield: 15 inches or more, low of 10 degrees F this morning. We’ve seen earlier snows, but not so deep.
Must agree on the loveliness: from Rapid City, the green lower slopes of the foothills (greener than ever seen this time of year) below the silver-white blanket on Harney Peak and vicinity, against a cloudless deep blue early morning sky, were the most breathtaking ever.
This is why I moved to Arizona. If I ever see snow again, it will be gone by noon!
Yep, lower down.......right behind Bear Country. I’ve never seen the Hills as green or lush this time of year. Absolutely beautiful. What a special gem we live in.
It’s happening because we now know that global warming causes global cooling.
And we also know that not eating causes fat and eating causes skinny.
But, since warm causes cold, I’m going to wear my winter coat in July and see if I cool down.
last time this occurred thee was a 400 year long mini ice age from 1350 to 1750.
It’s pure arrogance to think that anything we can do will somehow destroy the natural order.
“...What a special gem we live in.”
Just finished up our 15th year here (after leaving active duty). Seen snow accumulations in every month but July; local residents with longer experience tell us it piles up in July also. Frost-free only one month, on average; this summer must be breaking other records: 1 June (give or take) until 4 September without frost.
Meteorologists cannot predict the weather 72 hours in advance (not even inside a margin of error of plus or minus 20 degrees F). Yet they claim to predict temperature changes of less than 0.5 degrees over periods of 100 years. And we lesser mortals are not at liberty to question their certitude.
