PUEBLO, Colo. - Black Hills executives heard another earful from its customers during a hearing on its proposed rate increase.

"I'm mad as hell about these rate increases," said Frank Soudek.

"Reasonably priced power. That's what we're asking for," said Lee Gladney.

Black Hills wants to increase utility rates by 4 percent starting next year to make up for the construction cost of a wind farm in Huerfano County.

The peasants are in for a huge price shock.

Grocery and other stores where they shop will have to increase prices from this war on coal, ObieCare, etc.

Not just where they live and/or work.

What will happen here....is that coal potential areas will go down on price value, and quietly get bought up by various characters for half of their current value. Then at the right time...they make the stooge Republicans and Democrats bend the right way....go back into coal requirements...and they stand to make billions off the deal because they bought low, and will sell coal high.

Was in Pueblo recently-what a s@#$hole! Pueblo West, however, was very nice. Really enjoyed the stay; attended the local WELS Lutheran church. Is there a difference in the demographics between the two towns?

It's more likely to be that our coal, rather than being burned here, will be shipped to China.Anyone who's ever been to China recently (like me) knows that they don't give a damn about smokestacks.People can hardly breathe (yes,it's *really* that bad)...but the factories are humming.

They should point out that if the increase is due to the construction of a wind “farm”, and the utility wants to pass on excess costs to subscribers, then they should have let the subscribers decide whether to build it or not.

If the life cycle cost of electricity produced by the wind is lower, then the utility is certainly within their rights to built it without consulting the subscribers, but then there would be no bump to the rates.

The subscribers should insist that the utility sell the wind farm to someone else and buy back the power generated, at the same as their own wholesale cost. Then the subscribers aren’t being forced to pay for bad management or greenie whims.

Don’t regular capitalist business owners reinvest the profits back into the business in order to ‘grow’ it? Seems any and all profits have vaporized [into various pockets], shades of how it’s done in communist countries, those power plants don’t oversee themselves, now do they? Har-rumph!

You don't seem to understand that birds that pray, like eagles, hawks, condors, and falcons are a menace to cute little rodents like bunnies, mice, and rats. Birds that pray are also illegally using the country's airspace without communicating with government paid air traffic controllers. They don't have mandatory air traffic avoidance systems installed and sometimes collide not only with other aircraft but also valuable wind and solar power generating equipment. Yes birds that pray are a menace to our society and must be eliminated.

Those bunnies, rats, and mice are going to breed like Moslems without a natural predator.

The Colorado plains is the perfect place to build a wind power plant.

What the heck are liberals complaining about? They got their eco-friendly power. So what if it costs more?

I grew up in Pueblo. We lived on the opposite side of Pueblo West out on “The Mesa”. More farm country than prairie. Anyway, to answer your question, Pueblo is like any other place... Some parts of town are good and others are not. Unfortunately, there seems to be more bad places than good these days. My dad finally packed it up after 64 years and moved way south of town. I don't really miss it...
