TSA Tries to Pat Down Man After His Flight, Watch Him Refuse

Last Saturday, Kahler Nygard took a Spirit Airlines flight to Denver to visit with friends. When he departed from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Transportation Security Administration agents patted him down and allowed him to board his flight. When the plane landed, he was singled out and ordered to exit before the other passengers. After he exited the aircraft, TSA agents approached Nygard and demanded that he go through an additional pat-down and a screening of his luggage for explosive materials.

He had already arrived safely at his destination in Denver and simply wanted to leave the airport. After an argument, which can be seen in the above video, Nygard refused the pat-down, despite the fact that TSA agents claimed that he would be arrested if he did not comply, and exited the airport without incident. According to KMSP-TV Fox 9 News, Nygard flew back to Minnesota yesterday without any complications.

KUSA-TV notes that Nygard indicated that he knew that he had been placed on the FBI’s “no fly” list around three years ago, despite not being told why, and took the flight to Denver in an effort to see if he was still on the list. However, he was apparently downgraded to a lower-level watch list that labeled him as a “Quad S” passenger. Passengers carrying the label “SSSS” on their boarding pass are forced to undergo additional scrutiny during TSA pre-flight screenings. Nygard says he believes he was placed on the list because he posted on anti-government websites, but describes his own advocacy as being against government corruption, rather than the government itself.

The plot thickened when TSA agents working at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport started forgetting the extra checks on Quad S passengers.

“Just saying, too, that “SSSS” can be assigned for reasons other than posting stuff in public.”

Yep. If you PO a ticket agent as you check in they are known to manually 4’s you. Also if you draw a positive in the swab test for explosives they take your info down to include DL a/o passport info. The positives I have seen were always false alarms due easily explainable reasons but your are entered on a list. What that entails I don't know but I doubt it is for your traveling enjoyment.

It still is that way in Asia. Try any of the Japanese airlines, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines and even Korean Airlines.

Cathay Pacific or Singapore Airlines guy

Cathay makes flight attendant applicants bring a bikini to the interview. They also all have to speak English as well as Chinese

I cross into Canada by car fairly regularly. I have noticed US Customs more and more stopping motorists to ask questions why they are LEAVING the USA.

police-state in the making. What’s next is a new big wall.

When my grandparents on my Mom’s side flew out for Christmas with us in Idaho back around ‘72 their dog spent the flight up in the cockpit with the crew eating cookies with them, that another passenger brought and gave to them.

We should have depopulated other nations before we allowed that type of America to fade away...

My wife & I are both retired military. We got the full shakedown by U.S. Customs when we returned from Canada after a four day visit. Scanned our passports then told us to pull over into the holding area. Delayed over an hour.

Oh - and we’re both NRA life members, CCW holders, registered Republicans, and we live in the South.

Yes, I think there’s a connection.

After having a TWIC card for years I’ve finally made the “Pre-Check” TSA list. I don’t take off shoes, don’t pull the laptop from it’s case and don’t take off the belt. AND the line is much shorter and faster.

If it wasn’t for overcrowded flights and not knee room without an up grade I would almost like flying again...

I have NOT flown since the TSA started harassing Americans. Is it inconvenient -— YES. But I would rather have inconvenience with freedom, over “convenience” with tyranny. So I have to build an extra day or two into my plans in order to drive where I want to go -— so what. I see a lot of beautiful country and get to visit interesting places along the way. If more of us were willing to give up our temporary conveniences, instead of just acquiescing to unconstitutional power and authority, perhaps we could begin to move things back in the right direction.

I got stopped leaving the US via the tunnel between DTW and Windsor, probably 5 or so years ago. No booth or regular checkpoint, jut a couple agents in the tunnel entry road, one with a rifle, motioned for me to stop. I was questioned and made to open the trunk. No request for ID or anything else.

Fortunately, I have never posted to a website that is critical of the government.

I’m a railroad commuter, and I dread the day the TSA idiots take over monitoring the passenger railroad system away from the Amtrak police (it’ll come, I have no doubt). They have this moronic thing called “Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response” (VIPR), which they’re itching to use. They tried it at the Atlanta Amtrak station a while ago, stopping and inconveniencing hundreds of commuters who were just trying to leave the damned station (they’d already gotten off their trains). The VIPR jerks demanded to inspect everyone’s briefcases and backpacks. Fortunately, the local Amtrak Police Chief got wind of this and had a cow; he came down from his office and told them to get the hell out of his station or he’d have his men arrest the lot of them. They left.

Since then, I’ve seen them show up at my station platforms once in a while. That’s all they do - for now - just stand around looking bored. One day the idiots decided they needed to direct traffic out of my station’s parking lot! Dammit, they forced us to queue, and it took twice as long to get out than if we’d figured it out for ourselves. Jerks. Total useless appendages to national security.

After a flight? What is the point of searching them AFTER a flight?

Well, it was after a commuter train ride, but your point is well taken. I'll tell you what their point was: they attempted it because they felt like it. Thank God for the local Amtrak Police Chief to told them to take a hike.

You've got an out-of-control government agency with power, you've got thousands of mall rent-a-cops with guns and barely high-school education levels, and a burning desire to justify their existence - it's a toxic mix that's not good for anyone.

Took my first cross country train trip year before last and loved it. If/when TSA takes over rail security, I will quit riding trains, too.

To his credit he walked away and they did nothing- you need to stand up to bullies or they’ll continue to bully.
