~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Redstone Arsenal, Alabama

Redstone Arsenal (RSA) is a United States Army post adjacent to Huntsville in Madison County, Alabama, United States and is part of the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area.

The Arsenal is a garrison for a number of tenants including the United States Army Materiel Command, Army's Aviation and Missile Command, the Missile Defense Agency of the Department of Defense, and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.

Originally a chemical weapons manufacturing facility for World War II, the arsenal became the focal point of the Army’s rocket and space projects, including development of the first U.S. ballistic missiles and space launch vehicles in the 1950s.

Redstone Arsenal remains the center of testing, development, and doctrine for the Army's missile programs. Besides the U.S. Army Materiel Command and the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command, Redstone houses the Tactical UAV Project Office, Redstone Test Center (RTC), the Missile Defense Agency, the Missile and Space Intelligence Center, and other operations.

After operating as a tenant on Redstone Arsenal for over half a century, the Ordnance Munitions and Maintenance School was moved to Fort Lee, Virginia.

Redstone Arsenal continues to host the Marshall Space Flight Center, NASA's field center for propulsion analysis and development, which developed the Saturn rocket family in the 1960s and propulsion systems for the Space Shuttle in the 1970s and '80s.

Thank ya MA, glad to be home!

Not a second of rest, LOL!

The zoo started last week, and I barely had time to find a little hotel room to sleep for a few days.

Landing at my family digs tomorrow for a while, lots of space and lots of memories.

It’s all good!

Good evening, Connie, and thank you for the tributes to our troops. *HUGS*

Hope you had some “me” time this weekend.

My Mom isn’t feeling well, so I was running all weekend with water and ibuprofen and her knees buckling. I found out last night that she stopped taking her vitamins to see if they were helping. AGRHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! No wonder her knees are hurting. She not taking the stuff that helps.

We’ve live here in Rocket City USA for a little over 20 years and raised two wonderful kids here. Nice place. Interesting history. Good place to live except for the darn tornadoes!!!

Promotions are nice, especially when you’ve retired. d:o)

Last night in the hotel? Do you have your own stuff in storage, or do you get all new?

Happy furniture arranging! And happy coffee making!!

I’m going home....back in a bit.
