Vanity: Washington Journal Still Streams Live Online via C-Span Radio
C-Span ^ | 9/16/14 | C-Span

I haven't subscribed to cable TV for many years, relying instead on several online streaming and downloading services for the entertainment and news programs I'm interested in. One of those services was C-Span's website, but earlier this summer C-Span restricted live-streaming for non-government programming to those with a cable TV subscription (which includes C-Span in its package).

This post is for a limited audience, but I'd speculate that there's a few more people on FR who might be interested to know that the audio of the 7am - 10AM EST program Washington Journal still streams live on the Internet each weekday morning on C-Span Radio (along with all other C-Span programming carried by C-Span Radio). I've found the stream on C-Span's site to be somewhat glitchy; the link I've provided above comes directly from the streaming service Liquidcompass, and seems more reliable.

Find a good friend (or FRiend) that has cable and is willing to give you their cable provider login (usually an email address and password)

We haven't had cable for a couple years. I use my in-laws Comcast login creds to view a host of content. They never watch anything other than on the TV anyway (no laptops or mobile devices) so I don't feel guilty.

Not a bad idea. To be honest, I thought the cable TV companies used some kind of geo-locating and/or IP checking and/or other method to identify those using another individual’s log-on credentials. But if not...then that’s not a bad idea.

Thank you very much....I got rid of everything except my internet broadband and was disgusted when trying to watch the Washington Journal the Time warner would not allow it because I had no cable....I am listening now to the link you provided and I appreciate you taking the time to post this.

I gave up on C-SPAN when they started furnishing separate phone numbers for Conservative, Liberal and Independent callers to provide “balance”.
