Can we send Barry first? A one-way mission to Alpha Centuri?

Unfortunately, Alpha Centauri enforces their immigration laws. They would send him back with their spaceship, and then send us the bill.

I am hoping its 100% Space X. Truly impressed with recent vertical landing. Only done it on water but it will only be a matter of time until they do it on land. Game changer.

In reading that report, and the commentary afterwards, it seems that our Dear Leader (through his toady Charlie Bolden) will be announcing “The Fix is IN!” later on today when they hand the contract to Boeing.

It is staggering to me to listen to people rip SpaceX for “taking Government money” when it appears from this data that Boeing has taken $480 million and produced absolutely nothing, while SpaceX has taken $460 million and produced tested and capable hardware. Boeing is clearly far ahead of the game on playing the Bureaucratic Game and making the right donations to the right people.

Cronyism writ large. Disgusting...

SpaceX's excuse note:

Dear NASA,

Sorry we were late with these technical reports on how we propose to fly to the Space Station - but we were very busy flying to the Space Station.

A very short (meaningless) article - but the comments are quite entertaining, and some, enlightening.

Yeah, we should totally defund NASA. I’m sure that will end well one day.

Are you suggesting we need NASA to protect us from meteors?
Yeah, you're right, I'm SURE that will end well one day.

I’m suggesting that one day it won’t just be an air burst. It’s not even the only possible danger facing us from space. And without NASA to provide a space infrastructure we will be completely defenseless. But hey, go ahead, let’s bury our collective heads in the sand and hope for the best. What a wonderful legacy to leave to our children.

If we can put a man on the moon, then

one day we could put a liberal on the moon.

And, if we can put a liberal on the moon, then

one day, we could put all of the liberals

...on the moon!

How do you know they spent an awful lot of money? The used the Atlantis exhibit as the “set.” The queue line for the Shuttle Launch Experience served as the “walkway.” Delaware North which owns the Atlantis exhibit effectively payed for the “set.”

Boeing gets 4 billion and change, SpaceX gets 2 billion and change. Hmmm. Sorry but from my perspective it looks like SpaceX has given more deliverables so far. But hey, it’s all about who you know.

I think it should have been the other way around. I would want to have Boeing participate just from size and past experience, but SpaceX has been the group that truly delivered and should have been awarded the lion’s share of this, instead of the other way around.

My prediction: NASA selects two companies: Space X and Boeing.

What did I win?

T-shirt? Sticker?

I'm not happy with the award. Two capsule designs. And the panel talking about innovative designs. Pfft... If it was to be two awards, should have two different type of vehicles.

Also, I agree with you on who should get the lion's share. That being said, I think SpaceX will deliver more for $2B than Boeing does for $4B...

Two more years with Charles Boldin as the WH sock puppet.
