Mysterious “interceptor” cellphone towers that can listen in someone’s phone call despite not being part of any phone networks have turned up near the White House and Senate.

A company that specializes in selling secure mobile phones discovered the existence of several of the towers in and around the nation’s capitol.

“It’s highly unlikely that federal law enforcement would be using mobile interceptors near the Senate,” ESD America CEO Les Goldsmith told the technology website Venture Beat on Thursday.

I wonder if ESD has set these stations up as part of their marketing plan. Just wondering....

Not to worry....only info coming from the white hut phones are take-out ordering and tee-time arrangements.

“It’s highly unlikely that federal law enforcement would be using mobile interceptors near the Senate,” ESD America CEO Les Goldsmith told the technology website Venture Beat on Thursday.

Why is that? Wasn't there something a short while back about Senate or Congressmen being taped, or their emails intercepted? Can't remember the particulars now.

Someone on here in another thread said we should just tear them down and see who complains.

Best plan to date.

They would just NSA it or maybe the interceptor units do belong to the NSA...hmmm gotta agree it would be great marketing strategy to sell secure cell phones...

Seems to me, the right experts should be able to hack them, and find out who is being listened to, and by whom.

Hopefully whoever did the intercept will post the conversations online! We all need a good laugh these days!

I must have one of those towers in my area. Since the “service has been upgraded” in the last two months, my reception has plummeted to 300 bps 80% of the time. And I can see a cell tower from my study window!

This is no mystery. It is pure nonsense.

The FBI knows.

You can’t just build a tower anywhere you want.

You must make arrangements with the landowner.

The land owner’s name is on the deed. You simply follow the trail from there.

The cops know and the fact that everyone says they do not know tells you who it is.

The NSA or one of the other criminal government agencies.

I would suspect that the DHS is encroaching on NSA territory.

I wonder if the companies that sell anti-virus software also create the virus.

I use my cell phone maybe, mmmmmmaybe once every 2 or 3 months. Yes, really.

It really is for emergencies only. Or if I’m delayed leaving/going somewhere. Like leaving the dentist later than expected.

So I’m not sure I would notice if service had changed.

“mobile interceptors “?

Does that refer to mobile phones or the cell towers?

In any case, Chinese, Russians, or US. It should be pretty easy to pull the building permits. Of course, the NSA must know about them even if they didn’t build them in the first place.
