“But make no mistake arming Islamic rebels in Syria will only make it harder to destroy ISIS.”

As much as I disagree with and enjoy finding fault with Paul - he is correct here.

We will fight ISIS, a war I accept as necessary, largely because our own arms and the arms of our allies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar have enabled our new enemy ISIS.

Will we ever learn?

President Obama now wishes to bomb ISIS and arm their Islamic allies in Syria.

Yep. Rand seems to be one of the few people in Congress who actually thinks about this stuff.

I agree with Rand on this, and I have told my representative and senators how I feel about it.

I agree with Paul here. What makes me sad, is that a great barn burner like this will cause some folks to think he is a great presidential candidate choice.

No, he’ll be of on some need for immigration reform in seconds.

I can’t jump up and down because of this speech because he’ll anger me again in days.

The state of our political affairs is so frustrating these days. One moment you have a statesman, the next a conniving enabler to our enemies. You look real hard, and yep... it’s the same guy.

Da.. it!

We should not arm any of these people. But I am in favor of wiping the Islamic terrorists off the face of the earth. But you can’t do that by pussyfooting around. Declare war, mobilize and blast them out!! And then keep our bases in place for the next time

Very good, because IT’S A BAD IDEA, but I bet we’ll hear the Paul Haterz try to spin this anyway!!

And then demand compensation from the Muslim world for their protection (both Iraqi, Saudi, and Syrian oil) because WHY should WE (as in the USA) always have to foot the bill for others’ protection?

Remember the smiling poses of politicians pontificating about so-called freedom fighters and "heroes" in Libya, in Syria, in Iraq...unaware that so-called freedom fighters may well have been allied with kidnappers, killers or both.

Ouch! McCain cannot be happy about that one.

"sure he might be right on this but....but....but....his immigration plan isn't nearly as good as the one proposed by Senator.....I mean Congressman......I mean Governor......uh...uh....um...

I mean, his dad is a kook. "

Big Media has been defending McCain all week on this. McCain’s spokesman told the NY Times that the guy who looks like an ISIS general who McCain met with is just some other guy who looks exactly like him, but McCain can’t tell you who it is because it’s a secret. So it’s been “debunked,” don’t you see?

No, we have to arm them. How else will we know who we’ll be fighting next?

Rand Paul is right, we ought not to arm these groups.

Yet, in arguing he succeeds in propagating tired leftist screeds.

Thank you Rand. Mosty DC is gone rogue, or medicated, or bought and paid for by enemies foreign & domestic.

Rand Paul is right. Any arms given will end up in the hands of those who will end up shooting Americans. There are arms sufficient on the ground in Iraq for the Iraq nation to rise and defend it’s little dream of freedom, independence and tolerance. You can’t defend people who won’t defend themselves.

“Rand Paul is right. Any arms given will end up in the hands of those who will end up shooting Americans.”

Absolutely yes. Arming the Syrian rebels is arming IS. They are one in the same, or close enough.

I cannot believe there are so many politicians that go along with this claptrap.

I am glad Rand Paul says this.

Yet he also says ludicrous things in the same argument such as:

“it is that chaos breeds terrorism.”

We certainly shouldn’t be arming Syrian rebels on the Senate floor. That’s just too close to home.

Interesting. Which specific lines of this speech constitute a “tired leftist screed”?
