They misread the voters.
I think the “Yes” side became overconfident and thought they had it locked up.
The “No” side took nothing for granted and ran an effective campaign right up to the last day before the referendum.
Okay. I thought maybe the press there was operating as ours does here, pushing their agenda rather than just reporting.
Sounds as if they may have been doing an honest job of reporting.
As I said last week, in votes of this kind when there’s a sizable undecided vote near the election, the status quo is bound to prevail. Voters are less likely to vote in permanent unknown changes unless current conditions are intolerable!
