PBR used to be a good working man’s beer. Then the stinking, skinny jean wearing, dirty hipsters started drinking it. It’s fitting the commies bought it.

If Russia doesn't sell to Europe, they'll sell to China--China is willing to put up a HUGE amount of money to build pipelines to send natural gas and (maybe) crude oil to China. And China wants that natural gas, especially in the need to wean everyone in the country off burning very polluting coal.

Some Russians bought into the names of a bunch of defunct brewing empires and whatever facilities go with them? Unless they invent a time machine, the Russians can't screw up the great beers of the distant past or improve the crap that was being churned out before these once-popular beers went belly up. When one of the new owners says something about "egalitarian" beer, that is a pretty good sign that actual improvement in taste isn't forthcoming, but quantity over quality is the rule. Make it the Section 8 price-point favorite and it'll probably be a gold mine.

All the old iconic American beers disappeared or went to hell years ago because of (take your choice):

1. Prohibition
2. WWII impressment (Emperor Roosevelt II)
3. The third generation of the founder's family flew the brand into the ground after the second generation did a piss-poor job of parenting.

Yeah, I'm being flip, but take any combination of the above and you won't be far off.

Its so weird, they write this like Pabst actually has breweries. Miller contract brews all their brands so what is the purchaser really getting? Recipes and names.

Some of the worst beer I’ve ever had was Moskovskoye, which was ubiquitous in Moscow when I visited there when it was still Soviet and Leonid Brezhnev was the head honcho. It came in thick bottles, like Seven Up, and was always served warm.

In the better eateries, you could get a cold bottle of Stella beer from Egypt.

I’ve had Russian brewed beer here in the states,
can’t say it was bad....it wasn’t anything,it was like water.
Makes PBR seem complex by comparison.

Another one bites the dust, and Yuengling's market share will continue to increase.

The last time I had a Pabst was in the 50’s and someone paid for it.

How bad is Pabst?

Back in my college days thirsty alcohol craving college kids would avoid keg parties when Pabst was on tap.

When I was in high school PBR was the most popular beer because it was sweet and cheap. Wonder if it still the beer of choice with young kids.

Used to serve more than 18 barrels of PBR per night in 16oz iced schooners...4 decades ago.

They’d have loved PBR if they had tried Stag, Carling Black Label, or Falstaff.

I haven’t seen anyone comment on Jax, LOL. Driving into New Orleans took you right past the Jax Brewery.

Lots of PBR left at The Wall, especially the traveling versions. I recommend a sanction against the sale to the Ruskies.
