US Airstrikes Under Way in Syria
ABC News ^ | Sep 22, 2014 | MARTHA RADDATZ

Posted on 09/22/2014 6:44:39 PM PDT by gandalftb

merican airstrikes against ISIS targets are under way in Syria, according to a Pentagon official.

"I can confirm that U.S. military and partner nation forces are undertaking military action against ISIL [ISIS] terrorists in Syria using a mix of fighter, bomber and Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles," Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby said.

"Given that these operations are ongoing, we are not in a position to provide additional details at this time. The decision to conduct theses strikes was made earlier today by the U.S. Central Command commander under authorization granted him by the commander in chief. We will provide more details later as operationally appropriate."

Jennifer Griffin was just reporting how we have taken out Assad’s air defenses

We're doubling down on stupidity.

Obama will use this to look strong this week while the UN Assembly meet...the timing was obviously to coincide with this meeting so he can garner more support for what he’s doing now in Syria... against ISIS attacks in Iraq.

Things are much worse over there than if we had left Iraq and Afghanistan alone. The track record of our military involvement is very poor. You simply can’t defeat a cultural/religious movement on its own turf unless you are willing to fund an indefinite occupation, or commit genocide yourself — which we fortunately aren’t willing to do.

As you can see I am talking out the wrong orifice of my body. I am trying my best to connect dots, but who knows what the heck is happening and being played out on our T.V.s and news sites.

I did not know about UN Assembly, which I get the idea obama sees as his higher authority. He probably won’t get what ever support he is hoping for, because they know he is unreliable and will put other nations in a quagmire with his lies and false promises.

“.....What you’re really talking about is what’s happening on the immense energy battlefield that extends from Iran to the Pacific Ocean. ....It’s there that the liquid war for the control of Eurasia takes place.

Yep, it all comes down to black gold and “blue gold” (natural gas), hydrocarbon wealth beyond compare, and so it’s time to trek back to that ever-flowing wonderland...”

Oh of course...but getting rid of the nation leaders not on board with THE AGENDA and who controls it cannot be overlooked either.

They took down Gadaffi, Mubarak, becuase they outright refused to comply.....Assad did as well and of course we see what’s happening there.

But what really antagonizes me is the Muslim nations have their own agenda and no skin in this war to speak of...it’s our fighters etc...they’re holding out until they can use them against any who stand in the way of “their “agenda later on Imo...

Nonsense. Most insurgencies historically lose. We’re going to win this. It’s not about pro-Obama or anti-Obama. It’s about peace and security, which can be obtained. We have allies on the ground who can annihilate ISIS wherever they find them.

He’ll use whatever leverage he has to, and will, to obtain what he wants....and that is.... he will not go about this without other nations on board even if it’s all our military jets etc. doing the deed.

I don’t think he cares about the UN overall...he knows they have no power...just going through the motions so if he needs them in his back pocket he can pull them out..like most presidents.

Keep your eye on Putin...he’s got a dog in this fight but he’ll play it to his advantage as soon as Obama slips...

Any UN General Assembly policy allowing force, must be approved by the Security Council, on which Russia and China sit. Obama has already double crossed 'em both for the last time.

The US is rogue, we will get no cover from the UN or International Law.

I still think this ISIS is a rouse to enable the military attack on Syria obama suggested a year ago.

In my opinion Obama’s real goal is the overthrow of the Syrian government.

ISIS is kind of a false goal that he will soft pedal to justify and get support for going after his true goal.

"As a matter of fact, the existence of ISIS is a trhreat to our security and it is in fact in our national interest to vanquish the threat."

How so?

Are they going to come over here and cut our heads off?

They are a terror threat, no more.

UNLESS they capture enough oil to reduce production, or develop the capability to strangle the Strait of Hormuz.

The direct threat to America is significantly diminished with our fracking revolution.

It's mostly Europe, Japan and China that have a problem, but we have one obliquely in that we , as the largest empire, have a commercial interest in keeping healthy buyers healthy.

Anymore it's the buyers of DOLLARS that are important.

And that's China and Europe. And the Saudis. And Japan.
