You might be surprised who finds FR threads discussing something near and dear to them. I know I have been in the past. These threads are public, you know.
Do you typically use the excuse of someone not being present to slander and gossip about that person? What does Christianity have to say about that?

That report describes it as a “baptismal pool” also the incident occurred “during a prayer service”. No pictures of the pool though in the video.

When I was growing up, we went to many churches which friends/relatives attended. The Pentecostal ones taugh from the Bble just lke the others. They are no more dead than many others. There is a small church on the street behind me. It may be Presbyterian or Lutheran but no one is ever there when I look out. I go to a SBC and we have to get here very early to find a parking place. Buses are run from our building down the street where some park.
I have seen your byline on entirely too many of those foodfights, participating with apparent gusto.

Just for the record (because RC is right there is a chance this thread may be seen by someone related to this tragedy) baptismal pools are used by other Christians as well. I know of one Cathoic church that has such a pool (even though we don’t baptise by full immersion apparently this parish does when receiving new members during the Easter Vigil).
It’s literally a pool of Holy Water, that’s larger than most jacuzzis I’ve seen.
So this tragedy could’ve happened even there (I’ve often wondered it myself as there is no protection around the pool). One unguarded moment and a little toddler could easily fall into it and drown.
So I certainly don’t blame their worship style for this. It’s just a horrific tragedy nothing more.

Some Pentecostal services can be a bit out of control. However, I have been in a few and they were conducted orderly and responsibly. So it is probably unfair to assume that had anything to do with the teen’s inattention. If you have been around young people, you know they have active minds that can easily wander from assigned tasks. Surely your military experience would confirm this problem occurs under even the most disciplined of circumstances. It comes down to the individual.
I remember one time we had a panic in my back yard, a big old dragonfly was scaring everyone and I was chasing it trying to swat it. Somehow in all the confusion the cat got out the back door. And wouldn’t you know, the only one paying attention (read multitasking) was my then five year old daughter, who had the good sense to run after and catch the cat before it was too late. And she’s still on top of things today, as a young adult.
But even so, anyone can make a mistake. Tragedies happen. Without knowing more about the exact circumstances, it seems premature to blame denominational behavior. Especially when there is such a wide spectrum of such behavior. I left the assemblies of God fellowship, not because of wild behavior, but because some who claimed to be speaking for the Lord were teaching contrary to the written Word, and being accepted. That was too much for me. I’d put up with a whole lot of things, including exuberant worship, if the doctrine is orderly according to Scripture. But you could put me in the middle of the most well behaved worshippers, and if they refuse to be orderly in their doctrine, they are too wild for me.

Far more children — and I mean real children, not 16 yo gangbangers — die from drowning than from firearms, yet firearms get all the attention. If you really want to save children, then get rid of backyard swimming pools, bathtubs, swimming holes, and baptismal pools.
