Just about anything is better than what we have now.

Who is electable?

“I would like to see only one conservative candidate, and I would like it to be Ted Cruz.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If only one conservative was in the running - against a field of RINO’s like Paul, Christie, etc. - they would get slaughtered.
No, we need nothing but true conservative candidates to select from.
Very big, as I think he’d increase the GOP share of the black vote to about 5%.
I’d rather he didn’t, honestly. He’s a good voice to have out there for ideas and ideals (at least in some areas), but he doesn’t have the political or executive experience necessary to successfully run for President.
I like Dr. Carson, but does he have any experience running a large organization?
The only thing I want to see is strong desire to make that large organization smaller.
[ Agreed. There is nobody out there more capable of carrying the Reagan mantle than is Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz is a steadfast conservative with an unflinching message, unlike the squishy, shape-shifting views of Rand Paul. ]
Dittoes, Ted is Solid and his conservatism is ingrained into his soul....
Newt may be an egotist, but I didn't see him as a spoiler in the last election. I thought he was the best candidate running.
Ditto. Which was, though, in its own way, depressing.
“No, we need nothing but true conservative candidates to select from.”
And what universe will that take place in? It certainly won’t happen in the US for this next election.
I would vote for him without hesitation. He is genuine, brilliant, optimistic and sincere. All qualities lacking in the current occupant of the oval office.
Carson is too inexperienced. There is no comparison between him and Cruz.
I think your analysis is wrong. One reason why conservatives have continually lost in the primaries is because there have been several conservative (or at least conservative-appealing) candidates splitting the vote against a single RINO. That's a guaranteed victory for the RINO.
And as much as I would like to see nothing but conservative candidates running, that is an impossibility given the determination of the GOPs to defeat conservative candidates at all costs, as we have seen in this year's primaries.
Unwise. We need one conservative so the GOP-E can commit fratricide for a change.
Carson has no experience and though a good social conservative, is simply not qualified to be President. His 2A stance is worrisome and all he will do is pit conservatives against each other.
I’d be fine with President Cruz putting Dr. Carson in charge of gutting HHS, however.
Id really like to see him run for Mayor of Detroit. He’s already a hometown hero and having a mayor who actually works with the GOP controlled state rather than against it would be a big help.
Plus it might help him get over his gun grabbing instinct.
My ideal (only) choices running in 2016...
Perry, Cruz, Walker, Jindal, Palin, Carson, Cain, DeMint, West...
(Who else?)
Don’t get me wrong, I like Cruz but isn’t he a little thin on the experience front too?
That would have been a reasonable point of view up until the time Newt lost primaries in Alabama and Tennessee and still Newt refused to bow out. Santorum had his imperfections, but he was clearly the only alternative to Romney by then.
Totally agree with you that Huckabee is just no kind of conservative at all. Unfortunately, he will siphon off a lot of conservative votes who are absolutely convinced that he is, just because he is strongly pro-life and does the "Jesus" talk well.
I really want to see not only Romney and Bush, but also the Pillsbury dough boy splitting the moderate vote. Huck is sort of an x factor which will draw from both camps.
I think Cruz and Carson would treat each other civilly and throw there support to whoever clearly has the momentum because the outcome is more important than their egos. I really can't say that about any others who've been mentioned as possibilities.
Bobby Jindal might be one who is able to unite the two factions, so I wouldn't rule him out either.
Dr. Carson, I like you, I respect you and know you are willing and able to serve your country. But you do not appear to be the one who will stand up to encroaching elitists and say “no farther”, then push them back. For that we need someone more Reaganesque.
