For months, several clusters of conservative lawmakers have been secretly huddling inside and outside the Capitol, plotting to oust John Boehner from the Speakers office when House Republicans regroup after the November elections.
The strategy for now seems disorganized and fluid: Find a way to push the Speakers race to a second ballot, create turmoil in the conference, portray Boehner as highly vulnerable and offer up an alternative.

The behind-the-scenes effort is taking place as Team Boehner is projecting confidence he will coast to a third term as Speaker, pointing to his unrivaled fundraising prowess and ability to corral his rowdy caucus, for example, to keep the government open and provide arms to moderate Syrian rebels. Boehner is back on top, The Wall Street Journal declared.
Yet behind all the chest-thumping, the picture is less rosy for the 64-year-old Ohio Republican.
A number of conservative lawmakers, both in interviews on the record and on background, described enormous frustration with Boehner and his top lieutenants for taking too safe a political route ahead of the 2014 elections.
In tough times, it doesnt mean you play timid, it means to play bold, and I dont see that. And you know what? Times up, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), who vowed to vote against Boehner, told The Hill in an interview. Im tired of the status quo of whats going on in Washington, D.C. Americas tired, Americas angry and theyre scared, because they dont have leaders in Washington, D.C.
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) was more succinct: Ill give him every bit as much support as I did last time.

Why the secrecy?
Well, it WAS a secret...
Secrecy because they are NOT proud of what they are doing.
I’d be!
Heh.
It’s still a secret, Boehner wouldn’t be caught dead reading FR.
Good point!
Why the secrecy?
Do we typically warn the enemy of a deadly attack?
In many ways Boehner is more dangerous than most House Dems, his ouster needs to be handled in the way most likely to succeed.
some secret
I hope they don’t make him cry again.....
they should and a long F’n time ago
I’d love to see Rep Gohmert as speaker; or, Trey Gowdy, but he’s busy with Benghazi now and for the foreseeable future.
Maybe it’s just a change in programming, but I remember when Pelosi was speaker - her mug was on TV weekly for her “address”, or whatever it was called. Boehner probably does a weekly address, but who would know, I only see/hear him occasionally. He’s probably a nice man, but IMHO a Speaker of the House should be able to speak convincingly and forcefully. As much as I despise Pelousi, she did/does (even if she spews lies) and Gingrich did. Gohmert also has this good quality.
Whiles we’re speaking of leaders, I hope the Pubbies take the Senate and Cruz, Lee or Sessions become the Majority Leader (a girl can dream, can’t she?)
It’s so ‘secret’ that reputable media has already reported Boehner’s efforts to fight it LOL!

The Hill is such a propaganda pit.
You might enjoy this video that ends up calling Harry Reid a big asshole.

I disagree with the “big” part. At best, Reid is only a polyp thereon.
Don’t mess with Louie!
This is why the GOPe is scheming to rig the electoral rules.
Secrecy, hell I’d be campaigning on it.
Don’t oust boner in secret, just oust him!
It’s not easy to oust Boehner, and it comes with a lot of risk. First of all, he can strip anyone who opposes him of chairmanships and good committee memberships, prevent their bills from advancing, even deny them many speaking privileges.
For “the conspirators”, it is also difficult.
Though it should be the last question, the first question will always be: “Who will take his place?”
The next questions will be “What’s in it for me?”, which is not unreasonable. If I risk my neck, what reward can I expect? Again, things like chairmanships, committee memberships, support for bills of all kinds. It goes to the heart of what they are doing there.
After that, they want to talk to the potential replacement about agenda items, plans and strategies. They want to make sure he hits the ground running, and that his backers have clear plans of what they have to do, and how to overcome obstacles.
They also want to know what the reaction will be from those who supported Boehner. That is, some of them will have to be booted out too, but most will be neutral, so the new guy will have to offer them something as well.
And everything they do must be secret until the moment when the election is held. If they don’t have the votes, then the whole scheme burns up. And even that’s not easy, because with the first vote, the “conspiracy” is out in the open, and absolutely *must* deny Boehner the first ballot victory.
After that, there will be much chaos, as Boehner starts promising the Moon and the stars to members to keep his job. And he will likely only need to convince a dozen or so to join him and he can thwart the revolt.
