Ruth Bader Ginsburg goes political: I can’t resign with this Senate

Supreme CourtJustice Ruth Bader Ginsburg took a hard look at the political landscape, saw a Senate that was looming as unfavorable to her leanings and summed up her fate: I can’t resign now — there’s nobody like me who could be confirmed, she said.

“Who do you think President Obama could appoint at this very day, given the boundaries that we have? If I resign any time this year, [Obama] could not successfully appoint anyone I would like to see in the court,” Ms. Ginsburg, 81, said in an Elle Magazine excerpt released on Tuesday. “Anybody who thinks that if I step down, Obama could appoint someone like me, they’re misguided.”

She also said that she’s completely able to “do the job full steam,” arguing that those who say her time to step down has come are wrong, Politico reported.

Ruth Bader Lenin was useless on the day she was appointed; she’s even more so now that she’s clearly senile.

Oh, they’ll ask her some tough-sounding questions so they’re seen as doing so by the base, but then they’ll pronounce themselves satisfied with the nominee’s (non) answers and vote for him/her/it anyway.

No, as a previous poster noted, it’s a female seat.

Angela Davis? Cynthia McKinney?

Both are too smart to take the job with the pirate Roberts soiling the bench.

Well, I’ll readily confess to succumbing to my first impression (differing from yours) on my initial quick read.

I cannot calibrate her allegiance to LBJ-grade liberalism versus “modern” (aka flaming) Marxist liberalism, nor can I resolve how she regards her “sacred duty” to her office. I’m just not that close of a follower.

The question for me for all these libs is just whether they are out and out vicious vandals seeking self-(or Dem-party) aggrandizement over all other considerations or if they really are erstwhile innocent albeit shortsighted & naive fools who think they are helping the little people & cleaning up our rivers with their nonsense.

Anyone notice that letting women into the SCOTUS hasn’t improved the quality of the institution any?

Anyone who’s read ‘Men in Black’, by Levin will know that the bar wasn’t exactly high.

They’ve managed to lower it. All of them, including, and probably especially, O’Connor.

“She sure sounds egotistical as well.”

Yeah, but she’s the past head of the ACLU, so it makes sense.

What are the chances that Captain Zero would want to keep the religious composition of the SC the same?

Hmmmmm.....

Would his quest for diversity lead him to nominate a Protestant?

Hmmmmmm....Reverend Al?

Or nominate someone from the “religion of peace”?

And the Senate was supposed to be above partisanship. Unfortunately, the Communists have control of the Presidency and the Senate and they want control of the Supreme Court.

And you want to give it to them, it appears.

She’s quite critical of the Harry Reid run Senate, I see.

That is interesting given the numbers of people on this forum who seem to favor a Harry Reid led Senate going forward. The world is becoming a very strange place.

Excellent questions, all.

I would not be surprised if he were to nominate the Dept. of Injustice’s Eric Holder or perhaps a mohammedan. I doubt there would be much sunlight between either one of those two choices.

Every time she opens her mouth she proves that she isn’t qualified to sit on the SC.
