California city council candidate receives death threats over Mexican flag flap
FOX News Latino ^ | September 27, 2014 | Fox Reporters

Posted on 09/27/2014 7:00:44 AM PDT by Din Maker

A Southern California city council candidate was fired from her day job and is receiving death threats after she posted a video in which she told a woman that it was “very disrespectful” to have a Mexican flag on her front lawn.

“Hi. Is that a Mexican flag in your front yard?” Capps asks the homeowner, who is inside her home. “You know we live in America right? This is the United States. So, why are you flying a Mexican flag in your front yard?”

Capps posted the video online – and it quickly went viral.

When her former employer Coldwell Banker got wind of the video, the banking giant promptly let Capps go from her position with the company.

Capps, in her video, also suggests that the family could face fines and legal problems for flying the Mexican flag, but the Ontario, California City Attorney John Brown disputed that claim.

"The City of Ontario takes great pride in being one of the most ethnically and racially diverse cities in Southern California,” Brown said. “Those expressions of ethnic and racial diversity take many forms throughout our City, and the City has always taken the position that such speech is absolutely protected by the both the United States and California Constitutions."

In an interview with Fox News, Capps said she can’t believe one video she posted is causing such outrage.

“My family is being threatened, I’m being threatened. We may have to move. I don’t know – I’m really scared,” she said.

“If you want to fly another country’s flag you do it in the proper way. The American flag flies on top; it has a place of prominence and then the other country’s flag is underneath,” she said. “It’s just flag etiquette.”

> IT`s a fact per se in the action, because you are telling the whole world that the Mexican flag represents you, not the American flag

It’s a shame that meteorite glanced it and set it on fire...: )

So, when a irish person flies a Irish flag on St Paddy’s day, he is pledging for Ireland?
Or When I fly my Imperial German Flag, I am loyal to the Kaiser?

No in both cases as those people are not trying to colonize the U.S. What are the Irish and German equivalents of La Raza?

Mexico isn’t hacking off people’s heads.
This woman was a busy body. Flying a flag on your property is your business, not anyone else’s. She invaded someone’s business, filmed herself doing it, and posted it. “See what a strong and awesome person I am? I stood up to someone that wasn’t hurting anyone!” There is a guy in my office that has a small Jamaican flag on his desk. Should I run up to him and scream at him for being unpatriotic? Would that make me a good American?
If you’re so offended, don’t look.
And Coldwell banker probably didn’t want to have someone working there that was so easily offended. Makes for a tough office enviornment. And they are free to fire someone for any reason they want.

No, I was making a point they would not have fired her if she had a problem with any flag for which they did not approve which would include both of those cited. Probably if she was complaining about the old USSR flag, they would have boiled her in oil before firing her I suspect too.

I beg to differ. This thread is about a lady who paid
a price for speaking her mind about a situation involving
the flying of the US flag as opposed to just the Mexican
flag here in America not about illegal immigrants or aliens or “narco terrorists”. PC crap is invading the country, not just California in case you haven’t noticed.

If you do not have the American flag above it... and that flag is of an existing country,, yes. A flag is not just a piece of celebration cloth or a toy to wave on a holiday, , it represents a COUNTRY, not a HOLIDAY!!! Many people immediately associate an Irish flag or a german flag with that COUNTRY. But flying a wwI flag of WWI Germany doesn`t represent any COUNTRY coz it no longer exists and neither does the Weimar Republic nor NAZI Germany...
Flags ain`t fun things nor toys nor holiday colors, but serious representations of COUNTRIES.>

Los trabajadores de Coldwell Banker son Gringos de Mexico.

She’s better off not working for those people.

I don’t know if it’s still the case, but Coldwell-Banker was connected to Sears-Roebuck. If that connection is still in effect, make sure CB’s corporate office knows Sears and K-Mart will be boycotted as well.

Firing her for making these comments is way out of line and most certainly death threats are abhorrent. However.. people fly flags to show pride in their ethnicity. My flying of the Irish or Portuguese flag is a display of pride in my ancestral origins, not an allegiance to those countries.

I understand. I guess the Immigrant problem that we have now with Mexico just makes this situation a "sore point". I live in Texas and I don't fly the Confederate Flag, like some people do, but if it did that doesn't mean I'm racist; but, it would be another "sore point" with many like this situation. But, don't try to tell some "good ol' Texas boy" to take down his Confederate Flag. (You've been warned. LOL!)

I would have just cut the flag down and walked away. No discussions, nothing.
