Northeast loses 40% of House seats as people flee high-tax states
Washington Examiner ^ | September 30, 2014 | Paul Bedard

The Northeast, once the nation’s political engine that produced presidents, House speakers and Senate giants including the late Edward M. Kennedy, is losing clout in Washington as citizens flee the high-tax region, according to experts worried about the trend.

The Census Bureau reports that population growth has shifted to the South and the result is that the 11 states that make up the Northeast are being bled dry of representation in Washington.

Critics blame rising taxes in states such as Massachusetts and Connecticut for limiting population growth in the Northeast to just 15 percent from 1983 to 2013, while the rest of the nation grew more than 41 percent.

The northeast has aborted away its political power.

They are like locust, they destroy their homes to the point it is not possible to live there, then move on to the next meal and decide those “locals” don’t know what they are doing, will correct their errors and in 20 yrs. you have the same high tax, high regulation crap hole they left.

I swear I would not be surprised if some liberal were to say that it is “unfair” that I am taller than most men.

Judging by my state of Kansas, it didn’t take as much as one thought. It took a mix of idiots coming from the liberal Missouri cites into Kansas on one side and the liberal Colorado areas on the other. But also trying out the conservative agenda a bit too further than normal. As soon as the cuts came to education and various other sectors. In came the liberal cries. If my state can go blue then any of them can. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again. I’m praying it doesn’t.

We need some volunteers to move out to Harry and Piglousee’s district for a couple of cycles.

“Your assumption may be flawed because you assume that it’s the liberals who are moving. Let’s hope that they are the one’s who stay behind because of the “free $hit.” The next census should be very interesting in terms of reapportionment.”

That could very well happen, it did in Detoilet.

Everyone that worked and paid taxes moved out, all that is left is the welfare leeches and union city employees.

They have no one left to tax to support themselves.

People who move out of the northeast voluntarily skew far less liberal than those relocating for jobs. An influx of northeasterners for jobs will turn a red state purple or blue in a decade or two. Witness: NC and VA. This tends to be more visible with national office, Presidential elections and Congress, but House Reps often remain Republican. Governorships can remain Republican. State offices can remain Republican, but the influx takes it’s toll very noticeably in local elections, so there goes the property tax rate because they love and I do mean love bond referendums. They want all the “nice” public stuff they left behind, think that taxes are such a bargain that “we all can afford it” and there you go, a couple rounds of that and you’re mini-Jersey.

This is not good news. All it means is that the south will become more liberal. Massholes carry their ideology in their fanny pack

Many of New York's trendiest new neighborhoods are filled with liberal southerners. I lived in one such neighborhood in Brooklyn several years back and my neighbors were white liberals from NC, Virginia and Arkansas.

They are a small demographic overall, but make no mistake about it they are there.

There’s an element of social class going on with that, and many will return to their home state and run for office as a Democrat.

I just heard on this morning's news that some rocket motor manufacturer is leaving CA for Texas with its HQ in Cedar Park and the launch area in Burnet county about 50 miles NW of the HQ. I hope they leave their political ideology in CA.

All you need to do is look at Florida.

Back in the 70’s and 80’s, it was a solid GOP state in terms of the Presidential election.

But look at it now. It’s a purple state. The Atlantic side (especially Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Palm Beach) is as far left as any district in Connecticut or Massachusetts. The area is jammed full of, as Michael Savage once called them, Condo Commies.

The Tampa-St Petersburg area is only just a little bit better than the Atlantic side. The Orlando area sends Alan Grayson to Congress. Seriously, you can’t get any more stupid than that.

Take a look at North Carolina. Like Florida, it was a state that you could immediately count as GOP for President. The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area was always left of center but in the last 10 years, it’s gotten worse. Asheville has gotten worse. Even Charlotte has.

These people voted for electoral stupidity and dysfunction and then move to another state and begin re-creating that dysfunction and stupidity there. But there’s really nothing we can do about it. People are free to move where they want. it does suck though.

The problem is that these yankees move South but they're still yankees (loud, obnoxious), and despite "fleeing" high taxes, they bring their lib "values"(?) and free spending ways with them. Quick to tell how they did it up north. Many remain dems, - North Carolina is a good example of that.

Northeasterners and Californians are fleeing their high tax high crime states in order to bring the blesings of Liberalism (high tax-high crime) to the heretofore low tax low crime states. They lose representation in the north but gain it in the south and midwest without contervailing Conservative gains.

And they are right! As a morphologically challenged American I am deeply offended. So give me money.

Thank you.

“Your assumption may be flawed because you assume that it’s the liberals who are moving.”

Your instincts are good. After I moved to a Southern state, every rat who held a state-wide office was thrown out. All rat and RINO congressional representatives were thrown out of office but one. Not saying it happened because of me, but the two patriot votes I brought along helped.
