Microsoft jumps to Windows 10

At at event in San Francisco, Microsoft previews the next iteration of its desktop operating system with a surprise naming leap that leaves out 9 and goes straight to Windows 10.

LOL. This absolutely explains why we heard that Windows 9 would be a free upgrade for Windows 8 users.

The odd numbered Windows OS are always better than the even numbered ones, right? So why skip 9?

Big biggest weakness that I see with windows OS’s is that they aren’t backwards compatible. You must invest in an entire new computer or device with every inception of OS.

Yes, you might need a new device to take advantage of all of the features, but a good OS should also improve your older device. This is something that Linux has success with, and is in competition with windows.

I interviewed a guy once who said he was proficient with MVS on the MacroVAX.

I told him we couldn’t use him because we were sticking to VMS instead of upgrading.
