Hospital executive Dr. Mark Lester confirmed that a screening nurse learned of Duncan's link to West Africa, but Lester said that "information was not fully communicated throughout the whole team." The Liberian government has confirmed that the patient is indeed Duncan, a resident of Monrovia in his mid-40s, reports the New York Times. Four days before traveling to the US this month, Duncan came in direct contact with a female Ebola patient in Monrovia, her family and neighbors tell the newspaper. Duncan rode in a taxi with the woman to the hospital along with some of her relatives. He was holding her by the legs, the pa was holding her arms, and Sonny Boy was holding her back, says a witness. The person identified as "Sonny Boy," 21, has since died, as has the woman they were transporting.

Things are sounding more and more strange in this whole thing.....
Western Morality aside - if you were sick with a disease like that and you had a chance to go to the country with the best possible facilities, wouldn’t you?
TO visit relatives nonetheless — how stupid can someone be?
Terrifying. He knew he was exposed, and came to the US. Did he think he’d get better medical ccare here? Or just wanted to give everyone else his disease?
Can become infected upon contact with Body Fluids. That means anything that comes out of a body that is sick with Ebola THAT IS WET? That includes sweat? That is a lot more conductive than just excreted waste, vomit, blood and saliva.
In contact 4 days prior, September 16 and went to the hospital on Sept 24. 2 to 21 days incubation period.
he lives in Monrovia? Why did he come here? I wonder?
Why did he come here? I wonder?
To visit relatives.
He’s not stupid. He arranged the flight knowing he was likely exposed, already had a visa lined up and knew we ‘cured’ ebola patients.
How many more like him are on the way or will be...?
Sounds to me like he came here to spread it around in this country. If that’s the case, expect that he gave it to more than his family here...
Isn’t there a rumor than one is in Boston now? maybe unconfirmed yet?
“How many more like him are on the way or will be...?”
As many as King Obama needs.
I have wondered if there is an ISIS connection to this.
“and knew we cured ebola patients”
If that were the case, why would he visit his family and expose them?
You can bet he is a Muslim... and he came here to spread it here as widely as possible.
How much time have you got for an answer?
If ignorance equals stupidity, one can be very stupid. Ignorance and superstition rule in West Africa. That's why they are in the situation they are in.
There have been reports of villagers killing education teams that are trying to inform people of how ebola is transmitted. They don't want to hear it. Red Cross workers dealing with dead bodies have been attacked.
People in that part of the world are fairly casual about hygiene, sanitation, what they eat, disease, and human life in general. This guy is probably a semi educated typical West African. Ride in a cab with a woman dying of ebola one day and hop on a plane to Dallas to visit your relatives the next day. What could possibly go wrong?
Could be ISIS connection, but I’m more inclined to think of the mid-term elections, you know, lots of people at polling places, but with Ebola out there, how many people will stay home??????
Just a thought.
Hes not stupid. He arranged the flight knowing he was likely exposed, already had a visa lined up and knew we cured ebola patients.
I guess the joke was on him. He showed up at a US hospital ER with the right symptoms and even told them he had just come from Liberia. They sent him home with a script. Let that be a lesson to any other Liberians trying to pull the same stunt!
Yep.
No one said this guy was a rocket scientist.
And there are a lot of folks on FR that are so cheap they would not postpone travel if it cost them an additional $75.
We are not talking about world class brains.
You know that he scheduled his flight after that? How often do you travel internationally? Most folks, aside from frequent business travelers schedule these things months in advance.
I thought I understood that correctly but wanted corroboration. Thanks.
I read it several places but that is not what a lot of the news has been saying. More lies coupled with stupidity.
