God Save Us from the Loud 'I'm Staying Home This Year' Conservatives

By Jim Geraghty

A few thoughts from the middle of the day . . .

God save us from self-professed "conservatives" who will announce they'll stay home on Election Day as a demonstration of their power.

Because as we all know, you become more influential in politics and government and public life by staying home and doing less.

....

Does the "I'm staying home" crowd apply this to everything in life? "I don't like the way the company is run, so I'm not going to work."

"Honey, I'm just not happy with your performance as a spouse, so I'm going to be less active in the marriage until you improve."

"Kids, I'm disappointed with your performance in school. Until you improve, I'm ignoring you."

The thing is, I wonder how often the "I'm staying home this year" crowd voted before. In fact, I wonder if they ever vote.

I don't understand the "I've never been more fearful for the future of this country, but I'm not willing to do anything about it" mentality.

Ronald Reagan is not walking through that door, folks.

I would vote for McConnell but I’m afraid that it would irritate the MSM and Michelle Obama too much. The optics are bad because voting for guys who can never cave fast enough is kinda extremist dontcha think? We already have Rand Paul as a Senator and I want Kentucky to be perceived as more moderate just like everybody else. I just don’t want Kentucky to get hurt with another sequester. We’re really a border state and we need to compromise. We just want to be liked.

People like him elected the lesser evils that sat silently while Obama let Ebola into America through his unanswered ‘executive actions’ and ignoring congressional law.

Anyone here see GOP screaming about the dangers? Nope. But we all say them do nothing.

‘Vote for The Lesser Evil 2014’

battle cry of the GOP establishment

The Communist Party used to refer to those who actually bought into its party line as “useful idiots”. The GOPe calls them “loyal Republicans”.

No, the math is not flawed.
It is a perfect model of your charge against me: that voting third-party in `12 was voting for Obama.

Now prove it.

Add NY-23 to that Mississippi count; remember that?

Is your arithmetic that flawed? Any vote NOT for a candidate is a vote against him and FOR the opposite candidate.

Your non-vote (assuming you stayed at home in a hissy fit or voted 3rd party in a hissy fit) was a vote for obozo.

Simple math. You need me to “prove” arithmetic?

I won't vote for Hillary and I won't vote for any amoral sleazebag leftist in GOP drag like Romney.

See if you can read: That means I am voting for NEITHER of them. I vote FOR only that candidate for whom I vote. I vote AGAINST the rest.

I don't owe my vote to cumulate with yours or anybody else's. I don't owe my vote to the sleazy corporate $$$$ obsessives of the US Chamber of Crony Socialism. I don't owe my vote to the GOP-E or to the RNC. The GOP owes me and every other American nominees WORTH voting for and, if they don't nominate such candidates, they can go straight to hell. As they are currently constituted, the sooner they join the Federalists and the Whigs in the trashcan of history, the better.

And people who can do math call the others “obozo supporters.”

The perfect is the enemy of the good.

>>I see you equate my vote (an action) with doing nothing (that is, inaction); is this because my action wasn’t what you personally think my action should be? Please explain how my action is equivalent to inaction. >

> 2) a vote for a 3rd party (which is the same as 3)
> 3) a vote for obozo
> 4) No vote (which is the same as 3)

> If I misunderstood your vote then I stand corrected. If if was 2 or 4 then it was a vote for obozo and the same as doing nothing which supports my quote. I assume 3) is not in our universe of possibilities.

I've made it plain: how is #2 the same as #3?
How and why does my vote for someone other than Obama translate into a vote for Obama?
In logic we would say: P ^ ~P — I want you to show how you arrive at True for the evaluation of ((NOT Voted-for-Obama) AND Voted-for-Obama).

Sniff! They promised to crush us in the primaries and now, we may just be too crushed to vote in the general election.

>>Now prove it.<<

I did already.

2 candidates, 2 voters. 1 voter votes for candidate A. The second voter pitches a temper tantrum and doesn’t vote.

Candidate A wins.

Thank for all that since you voted for it. And hitlery will welcome your vote with open arms.

Well, that would at least be some form of appreciation rather than the contempt and hatred Conservatives receive from the Ruling Class Oligarchs in the GOP and their stooge lackeys dish out.

Since your 'admonishment' is actually helping to drive Conservatives further from your pathetic Chamber-of-Fascism-bought party - perhaps you might want to use your wasted energy on threatening Mexican Nationals and 'Moderate' Liberal Democrats to vote for your candidates since that seems to be the new 'base' your party seeks to make beholden to itself.

But please, really - people like you are laughable in your vain and silly attempts to shame.

There is no difference between your GOP Establishment and Obama's MarxoFascists. There is it all a giant totalitarian Uniparty.

Good luck without us.

LOL — you fell into the usual trap of ad hominem when you have no argumentation.

Not the first and not the last.

But thanks for playing.

They will tell you that a vote for third party is a vote for the Dems.
What it really is, though, is a vote the Repubs could have had and drove away.
In choosing their next candidate the Repubs need to factor in just how many potential votes they can afford to alienate by running a guy the rank and file cannot abide.

Thank you.
It's encouraging to see that others are getting it.

You think casting a vote for mickey Mouse gets counted for someone other than Mickey Mouse. That’s pretty freaking stupid. So it logically follows that someone holding that fantastical belief is in fact ‘dumb’ as their actions show.

I mean you can’t claim intelligence believing a lie to be true afterall. Our whole society is based on stuff like that. A thing is provable or it is not. In no legal scenario can a vote cast for one candidate be credited to another, ergo your belief is idiotic and proven false.
