God Save Us from the Loud 'I'm Staying Home This Year' Conservatives

By Jim Geraghty

A few thoughts from the middle of the day . . .

God save us from self-professed "conservatives" who will announce they'll stay home on Election Day as a demonstration of their power.

Because as we all know, you become more influential in politics and government and public life by staying home and doing less.

....

Does the "I'm staying home" crowd apply this to everything in life? "I don't like the way the company is run, so I'm not going to work."

"Honey, I'm just not happy with your performance as a spouse, so I'm going to be less active in the marriage until you improve."

"Kids, I'm disappointed with your performance in school. Until you improve, I'm ignoring you."

The thing is, I wonder how often the "I'm staying home this year" crowd voted before. In fact, I wonder if they ever vote.

I don't understand the "I've never been more fearful for the future of this country, but I'm not willing to do anything about it" mentality.

Ronald Reagan is not walking through that door, folks.

The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Exactly what the Godless and their leader Satan say of The Almighty.

Makes sense that you would offer up that proverb as 'wisdom' given your snide insults on this thread towards those with principle.

At least we know what you are truly beholden to in spirit.

n= total vote pool.
o=votes for candidate A
b=votes for candidate B

Needed b>o

Thus n-o=b

If b > o then b wins
if o > b then o wins
any vote not for b subtracts from n

The conclusion is self-evident.

Having failed with the vote for the letter R campaign, as well as the we hate Harry campaign, the GOPe now gives a lesson in the faulty logic of false alternatives. To them it seems the choices are vote straight ticket republican or stay home.

News flash, there are conservatives down ballot who need our votes and will get it. We just won’t vote for the rinos.

And yes, there is someone worse than a democrat... We know the democrats stand for wrong headed values and keep our guard up. Only rinos can sell us out on crucial votes.

Having a majority held hostage by the gang of 14 to pass liberal legislation is indeed worse than being a minority.

Yup. Vote for a conservative or lose. Simple math.

Why are you pushing liberal Republicans a full 2 years out from an election?

Your guilt in voting for obozo must be terrible if you are now comparing people who point out your nonvote gave us obozo as somehow aligned with satan.

It was YOUR nonvote that gave us obozo — who is in service of Satan? Those who in a tantrum put his minions in office? Or those of who voted the most conservative candidate on the ballot?

Is your arithmetic that flawed? Any vote NOT for a candidate is a vote against him and FOR the opposite candidate.

And there is your flaw — there is no opposite candidate.
This isn't boolean logic: It's not a choice between P and Not P — there are multiple candidates and if the Republicans put up someone that I cannot vote for, then I won't vote Republican. The same goes for Democrats (though there's little enough possibility of that). The same goes for any party.

In `12 the party that put forward the best candidate that I could vote for was the Libertarian party, which nominated my State's former governor Gary Johnson (he's pretty conservative, worlds moreso than Obama/Romney, and left the State with a decent budget surplus).

I remember when National Review used to be a CONSERVATIVE magazine. Honest. Of course, that was a long time ago when Bill Buckley was still alive snd before the current bordello of writers took over to suck up to the $$$$ sleazebags who control the GOP.

Again, I ask to show via Romney’s record, where exists a single more conservative thing than Barry.

One.

So how is he more conservative than Obama when Obama was a pro trad marriage Senator and Gov Frauf can’t even claim that? By your logic, a vote for the most conservative of the two actually got us the more conservative person.

Now prove by their records where Mitt is ‘more’ conservative. We’ll wait. To date, no one has.

I would never give up my vote or stay home in any election on account of anybody. You vile bastards.

I am not pushing anybody (I am hoping Cruz runs).

But when we are past the primaries (which is where we should select the conservative candidates — NONE of which can pass the FR “purity test” btw), then we can only vote for the most conservative person on the ballot.

Crybabies who have temper tantrums and stay home or throw their vote away (remember Perot?) give us the clintons obozos and may soon give us hitlery.

I pray for a conservative candidate. But if we don’t get all that and a bag of chips we need do the best we can. The lack of seeing reality that got us obozo, particularly the 2nd time around.

And these people who got him elected have the temerity to attack me, personally.

I did already.
2 candidates, 2 voters. 1 voter votes for candidate A. The second voter pitches a temper tantrum and doesn’t vote.
Candidate A wins.

Are you daft?
There were more than two candidates, it is not binary logic, it is not boolean logic.
That I did not vote Republican does not mean that I voted Democrat.

Actually it does.

Candidate C is meaningless. Any vote NOT for Candidate A (including votes for Candidate C) is a vote for Candidate B.

You are the daft one. This is simple math.

Again, you ignore that there are more than two candidates.

I defy you to show where in ANY post I have “pushed liberalism.”

Admit you are a liar or withdraw.

Liar.

Do you really need me to do the math for you?

Think about n and go from there.

This is embarrassing for FR that we have such ignorance on parade.

You are kicking and screaming that we would not/did not vote for Romney correct?

Liar indeed.

Find his conservatism yet? We all wait with clutched pearls. Come on Dumb. Don’t duck such low hanging fruit. Show us Romney’s conservative acts in office that would PROVE he is no lib POS.

We conservatives don’t vote for liberals, regardless of their supporting party.

We are not Republicans, we are conservatives.
