God Save Us from the Loud 'I'm Staying Home This Year' Conservatives

By Jim Geraghty

A few thoughts from the middle of the day . . .

God save us from self-professed "conservatives" who will announce they'll stay home on Election Day as a demonstration of their power.

Because as we all know, you become more influential in politics and government and public life by staying home and doing less.

....

Does the "I'm staying home" crowd apply this to everything in life? "I don't like the way the company is run, so I'm not going to work."

"Honey, I'm just not happy with your performance as a spouse, so I'm going to be less active in the marriage until you improve."

"Kids, I'm disappointed with your performance in school. Until you improve, I'm ignoring you."

The thing is, I wonder how often the "I'm staying home this year" crowd voted before. In fact, I wonder if they ever vote.

I don't understand the "I've never been more fearful for the future of this country, but I'm not willing to do anything about it" mentality.

Ronald Reagan is not walking through that door, folks.

The guy with the most votes is the Won!

Not quite. POTUS electoral process is quite different. Actually your cast vote can mean zilch.

Great another new mather.

You get 1 vote. you cast that vote F O R someone. There is no box saying Against.

When you cast a vote for Gary Johnson, Gary Johnson gets your vote. Nor Barry or Hillary or Howdy Doody or you or me. Gary Johnson.

Now if you want to embarrass yourself after 6 years of people here explaining that to the voting illiterate, be my guest. It is a fact. Facts are not debatable with new voting math or liberal voting unicorn fantasy. He voted for Gary and Gary got his vote.

Barry did not get his vote. Gary got the vote. Now I know that Romney excusers haZ hard fweewings about that but although, I will admit, Barry and Gary sound similar, Gary is not in fact, Barry. Gary got Gary votes and Barry got Barry votes and never the twain did meet.

Milk and cookies, then nappy time. Then I’ll tell you all a story about how the GOP stood by and let Barry and his votes let ebola into the country with help from all the lesser evil voters who empowered their lesser evils to stand there quietly and watch. And that too is a fact.

Yeah know the whole math thing a vote for Whozit is a vote for Whatzit nonsense is silly. Your cast vote for POTUS is a solid cast vote on only about half the states. People need to read this http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/electoral-college/about.html But hey they’ll still say it anyway.

Not quite. POTUS electoral process is quite different. Actually your cast vote can mean zilch.

If you are absolutely sure how your state is going to vote, and it's not to your liking, then it may make sense to vote for the Losertarian or the Constipationalist, or whomever. Your guy might actually break a percent! At least, there would be a number in the returns to shake a stick at.

E.g., the 2000 US Senate race in Massachusetts, in which Libertarian Carla Howell got 11.3% (!), and Republican Jack E. Robinson got 12.23%, Fat Teddy winning, of course, with 69.11%.

But if there's any doubt whatsoever as to the final outcome, then you need to vote for the R, even if he sucks!

Barry did not get his vote. Gary got the vote.

That's fine and dandy.

But the one with the most votes is the one sworn in. The various reasons the other voters voted for the other candidates are mere statical footnotes.

So, Gary got a vote that might otherwise have gone to not-Barry. Whoop-de-do! The Gary voter gets to feel good about himself, while the country suffers under Barry's rule!

Losertarian or the Constipationalist

How interesting that on a board dedicated to Conservatism and the Constitution, we find a cadre of GOP-e party hacks who use derogatories to refer to Conservatives and Constitutionalists in demeaning fashion, which I think, reveals who and what they truly are.

Plants, wolves and agitators.

What ever happened to shame? I mean I get an open lib prostituting their ‘principles” for power or to ‘win’ but arent conservatives against that? Isn’t it a fundamental principle of conservatism to maintain ones personal integrity?

To go in public and spew utter nonsense like that is just embarrassing to anyone considering themselves conservative and does nothing but make conservatives and our beliefs look like barking DU moonbats.

So if anyone wants to justify that behavior when a 4th grade civics lesson clearly and rapidly disproves it means either they are willing to lie openly in which case they are liberals or that they are mentally unready to be conservatives.

There is no middle ground. this is basic logic, basic history and Voting 101. No excuses. People insisting on repeating that on FR do not value conservative philosophy because they cannot be blind to it being a member here.

Why vote for a bunch of political elites that will continue to grow the government? Albeit at a slow pace. We need to reverse that trend and not reward a bunch of GOP-E’s who will just “fix the bad parts and keep the good parts” of Obamacare, vote for bank bailouts, automaker bailouts, shovel-ready jobs, cash for clunkers, “conprehensive immigration reform” aka amnesty for illegals, the NDAA, illegal wiretapping, NSA spying, funding and arming the Free Syrian Army along with their allies in ISIS and reward their shady friends at the US Chamber of Commerce. We don’t need more government, we need less of it.

Make up your mind. It is a vote for Gary or Barry. Don’t want barry? Then vote for the conservative. Not the liberal.

I don’t think that is a fully accurate picture.

We do face an existential threat in America, and for all their hideous warts and hunchbacks, the Republican party isn’t it. The statist ideology represented by B. Hussein Obama and his cabal are the threat.

Then either join with us and fight for a conservative or encourage the GOP to front another liberal that is no better than Obama.

We are not voting for what we know is the problem. If you want to keep voting for GOP liberals then it is not us bringing liberalism to the right. It’s you. And those who actually with their votes, cast them for more liberal GOP candidates.

We are 2 years out and you are already trying to clear the liberal GOP path. Do you not see that as a problem? We do. And if you want that then it’s on you buddy. We are not voting for a liberal. If that means Hillary, that’s on you. You have 2 years to stop fighting us and get on the conservative side because 12 proved that we will NOT go down the liberal road with you. And Hill is arguably less lib than Barry.

You CLAIM you want a conservative? You got 2 years to show it.

Go.

You would also think they would support a Christian Conservative couple taking a stand against the attack on the family and marriage. But seeing that the GOP-E is tolerant circus tent well see for yourself http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3209345/posts?q=1&;page=1

If you think you can win by losing, then you are setting the US up to become North Argentina. Or North Venezuela. With a government-dependent underclass so large that it cannot be outvoted but requires a coup to subdue!

That is what will happen over time if you cede the political arena on principle!

Well good luck on the left. Hope you fail miserably. In fact, we;ll work to ensure it.

Another day, another Cheshire outs himself. Offered the hand of conservatism he sides with the left to ‘win’.

“Spoilers attract mockery”

Spoiler of what? More multitudes of offices? Maybe, your place at the trough?

What form of 30 pieces of silver to our Constitution and conservatism is a Romney or “Statist” vote worth?

Rigorous and free abortion programs?
Gay marriage on demand?
A newly minted cheap labor populous via anmesty?
Socialized Medicine w/ a painkiller sweetener for end of life care (when you’re no longer useful)
How about all those scary guns banned?
Maybe a RNC rules change to further stifle the grassroots?
More open primaries or liberal bastions (States) getting to vote before any conservative States?
Scotus rewriting and redefining legislation?
Sick the IRS on your enemies?
Etc...

Or just maybe, shred the Constitution all together? (I believe you referred to it as constipation because it’s not living and breathing.)

Yeah that was one of the more disgusting threads as of late. The GOP-E posting in it would have baked the cake and took the money.

I want someone to explain to me though this Don Sundquist This man a former Tennessee governor. A Republican actually. Which was worse {A} the man he replaced {b} the man who took his place {c} him {d} a three way tie? I have to choose {c} he was worse.

He split the state GOP down the middle and enabled the DEM speaker of the house who ruled with an iron fist nick named Boss Hogg, he nearly bankrupted the state, he caused a tax revolt by citizens who surrounded the state capitol horns blaring against HIS proposed state income tax, he allowed rampant corruption in what used to be the state Medicaid program {his successor actually did address it}, he expanded state government. In his second term his DEM opponent was far more benign than him. IOW the DEMs ran a wallflower they liked him so much.

His two terms was a victory both the GOP and state would have been better without. I naively voted for him twice. His election caused be a lot of grief and an increased blood pressure. The kind gentleman tried to reduce the state Tenncare enrollment several times. How? By trying to boot out the severely disabled such as quadriplegics. He cut the state reimbursement rates to doctors so low that persons with serious health issues who were on disability and by serious I mean like quadriplegia could not find doctors to accept them as patients. I'm not joking nor making it up. I dealt with it first hand.

That pretty well sums it up. These people are every bit the enemy of the ‘constipation’ as their mockery of it and those of us who believe it has value.

But lets assume for the sake of it that it was a spell correction error. They want to win above all else. Principle is evil because they mock it whenever they can. They put their conservatism on like underpants (magic underpants?) and cast them aside whenever they ‘feel’ that it impedes their ‘win’.

What good is a win with a liberal? They don’t care because they mock principle. One win is as good as another. They claim to be right wing but 2 years from a general, they pave the way for a lib. Again. None of these frauds once in this thread even try to fight for conservatism. They already decided that WHEN the evil principled conservative loses, they simply cast aside their magic underwear and vote liberal R for the win. Again. But they win nothing at all.

Does it matter that liberal R is every bit as liberal as Liberal D ?

No, because the win is what matters and principle is evil/people sticking to it hate America. Thats their own words over hundreds of threads like this one.

So they are as I said. Every bit the enemy as a liberal Democrat because provably, time and again, they say principle is bad and winning is everything. That’s not the America the founders intended, nor countless lives were given to preserve.

Oh and the last time I brought that point up? You guessed it. they mocked the very idea as dramatic posturing. But it is true. Provably so.
