KANSAS CITY, Mo. - KCTV5 reports an apartment building in Kansas City, MO. is being sealed off Saturday night, and a source close to KCTV5 says it's because a person who lives there is sick with something contagious. Police at the apartment building told KCTV5 that all or part of the medical facility the person was taken to is now quarantined as well. The person was taken to Rockhill Research Hospital. No one at the hospital will confirm what the person has at this time. We'll continue to follow this developing story, and bring you updates as we get them.

How do you know it was a hospitial? The report says “medical facility.”

And why doesn’t the report name the facility.

Well, if it’s “contagious” in isn’t Ebola. Cause Ebola ain’t contagious-it’s infectious. From the actions taken, it might be airborne, and Ebola ain’t airborne either.

If you think other wise, the stop creating panic guys will be here shortly to explain it all in their preferred style of ridicule.

I wonder what kind of research is being done at this facility? Kansas City is located right along a trade route that all manner of stuff and people travel, so it could be lots of things.

After watching the mistakes, in Dallas, they could have just decided to act out of an abundance of caution, which would be a nice change of pace.

Sounds like they swooped in and absolutely shut it down completely, wherever this person had been, movie grade response. Hope it’s just abundance of caution and determination not to repeat the Keystone Cops of Dallas, but I agree, it sounds airborne from what little has been reported.

Here is my two cents:

-It could be a drill - elaborate but a live drill to hone performance... it would surely have helped in Dallas which was a unrehearsed disaster...

-It could be an over abundance of caution to something real - but not really suspected as Ebola - but overdone so as not to look stupid as Dallas did and for training - honing skills and organization.

_It is Ebola and they are being a bit over the top - but over done is better than a cluser-F_ _ K as was viewed all this week in the Dallas fiasco

I lived 35 years in Dallas - Fort Worth so I can get my digs in over my disappointments of the Dallas SNAFU...

It’s a hospital. My mom was a nurse there, and I was treated there in 1989 after being T-boned in a KCPD squad car by a drunk driver.

Does quarantine of part or all of the facility sound like a major deal to you, being familiar with it as you are? Sounds like it to me but it could be a smaller satellite hospital with ER to take the load off of the big teaching hospitals.

Curious about the “Research” part of the name, also. Is there a particular focus that you’re aware?

I confirmed the report. A Nigerian woman with high fever and Ebola like symptoms is being quarantined. Initial test for Ebola was negative.

I wrote it up in a brief article at Gateway Pundit.

Your attribution is incorrect. There’s nothing on the KCTV5 website of the kind, and you link to a different website and claim it’s KCTV5. As a matter of fact, there’s nothing on any of the KC news stations that sounds remotely like this story.

The website you link to is based in a city about 200 miles away from KC, and given that there’s no such story in actual KC news sites, and you’re misrepresenting the source, I’m gonna have to hoist the “BS” flag on this one.

Since 1985, KWCH has held the #1 position for 6pm and 10pm News in the
Wichita-Hutchinson Plus television market. KWCH has remained dominant
since that time and Eyewitness News is the #1 news at Noon, 5pm, 6pm and
10pm.

Eyewitness News also produces newscasts on KSCW-DT 33 Sunday – Friday
7:00-9:00am, Monday-Friday 4:00-4:30pm, and Monday – Sunday 9:00-
9:30pm.

Eyewitness News produces a local Spanish language newscast Monday –
Friday at 10:00pm which airs on KDCU-DT 31.

A big part of that dominance is weather coverage. Storm Team 12 and Chief
Meteorologist Merril Teller lead the way in forecasting experience, advanced
Doppler technology and media partners that strengthen the brand. KWCH is
a partner with KFDI radio (Journal Broadcasting).

Just as KWCH is the market leader in news and weather, it’s also the leader
in community involvement. Locally, KWCH works with Goodwill Industries,
the Kansas Food Bank, the United Way and many other non-profit agencies
to assist their efforts in the community.

Broadcast Area:

KWCH-DT and its satellites KBSD-DT, KBSH-DT, and KBSL-DT are CBS
affiliates and serve the western two thirds of Kansas. KWCH-DT also

operates a “virtual” station on Cox Cable in Salina, Kansas with the ability
to locally insert news, weather and commercials. In addition to Kansas,
KWCH-DT and its satellites can be seen in portions of Nebraska, Colorado,
Oklahoma and Texas.

KWCH-DT and its satellites broadcast two signals in digital; the primary HD
signal is on the corresponding dot 1 (12.1, 6.1, 7.1, 10.1) and dot 2 (12.2,
6.2, 7.2, and 10.2), which is a 24-hour weather channel called “Always On
Storm Team 12.”

Well, the pendulum may be swinging too far because it sounds more severe. A very swift and efficient reaction is a good thing, but they’re not releasing much in the way of information, so speculation could get out of hand. It frankly sounds airborne from what limited information was made available.

One of the first things a hospital with an Ebola patient should do is control access. Do you really want the exposed relatives running around the hospital visiting the patient?

No, certainly not. However, quarantining part or all of a hospital sounds like a bit more than just that.

Could be. I was merely making an observation. Airborne I would worry about another anthrax attack. It would be more of the theater of the absurd to under react to one instance and grossly over react to the next though. And so it goes...

Not really. The media could easily interpret what we in hospitals call controlled access as quarantine. It would mean no visitors, only patients and staff allowed.

I’ll take overreaction as far as getting on top of a suspected outbreak, so long as it doesn’t get any more heavy-handed with force than absolutely necessary to accomplish the objective of curtailing the spread of disease.

Doing that while being maybe a little too mysterious might cause problems, though.

And they’re in a city 200 miles away reporting something that none of the news organizations in KC are saying so far.

They claim that they’re getting the story from KCTV5, but as of yet I’m not seeing any story they could be referencing.

That’s not how news usually works. As an example, a TV news channel in Podunk Arkansas usually doesn’t report on what’s happening in Saint Louis hours or days before any of the news agencies in Saint Louis catch on.

You’ve seen what a lazy-ass response there was in Dallas, do you REALLY think that we’ve got censorship and wide quarantines the moment someone with suspicious symptoms shows up in KC?
