Constanze Letsch in Istanbul, Paul Lewis in Washington and Nicholas Watt 5 October 2014 Air strikes against Isis targets in northern Syria have failed to stop the militants from advancing towards the centre of the city of Kobani, Kurds have said, in the latest indication that aerial power alone may not defeat the jihadists.
Fighting between the Islamist militants and Syrian Kurds continued unabated despite another volley of coalition air strikes in and around the Kobani enclave, Idris Nassan, Kobani’s “foreign affairs minister”, told the Guardian.
“There are fierce clashes between Isis and YPG [People’s Defence Corps] fighters, at the moment mainly to the south-east of the city. Isis now stands at two kilometres from the city centre,” Nassan said by phone. “I can hear the bombs and shells here.”

The Syrian air strikes are working precisely as planned. They take away the weakness card against democrats this November. It’s about stoping republicans in the Midterms, not stoping the caliphate in the Mideast.
Of course not. Especially since it’s very doubtful that our planes are being sent out to bomb the right people.
In the meantime..our “allies” the Turks are sitting on the side lines and waiting for IS to destroy their long time enemy the Kurds.

Well say it ain’t so! Did airstrikes do wonders against the Vietcong and NVA? After almost 13 years of bombing and firing hellfire missiles in Afghanistan yet the Taliban still wields credible painful hits against our military there, including killing a Major General? 1998 we tried sending Saddam Hussein a message for Christmas of bombs on Iraq accompanied by Missiles, yet he was still in power for a number of years after. We blasted Kosovo with death from above, but somehow we failed to realize that we couldn’t find all the mysterious mass graves of the Albanians and realized that well, the Albanians were starting to run an insurgency, but hey, calling it “won” is good. We fired missiles to hit bin Laden in Sudan and Afghanistan during the later Clinton years only to find out that wow, we can’t tell if he’s even home, despite multimillion dollar satellites and spy drones. So 50 years later, we have an adapted enemy to big bang airstrikes, and our politicians who run our military can’t accept that they are swatting flies, God help us if it is in his will to do so.

The closest thing I can compare Dear Leader to would be if Einstein were raised from the dead: When Al was alive, you know he was always thinking, “Wow.! Everyone is such a dumb s***.”
Most of us cannot begin to understand the complexity of Obama’s thoughts. He is something like Superman’s nemesis, `Brainiac’—but he’s Brainiac ... on steroids.
This is why he is constantly having to say, “You misunderstood. Or, “I failed to explain it to you properly.”
Consequently, this is why Obama constantly grovels before the rest of the world—crawling on his belly like a reptile—apologizing on our behalves because he appreciates that the “First and best hope for mankind” is actually a nation of dumb s***s.
So he’s basically a Zombie Einstein, and we’re sure fortunate to have him. Yeah, hmmmm. Uh, umm ....
The sarcasm becomes radioactive as the natives who work for a living become more and more restless in year six of the debacle known as “Obama”.
