Under an Open Borders mandate from Obama, the CDC has to keep finding increasingly ridiculous reasons for why letting people with Ebola into America is a good idea.
Dr. Thomas Frieden, directorof the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said the federal government is looking at different safety-related suggestions from Capitol Hill and beyond, but he suggested the key is to control the deadly virus where it started overseas, not limiting entry to the United States.
Though we might wish we can seal ourselves off from the world, there are Americans who have the right of return and many other people that have the right to enter this country, Frieden said at a press conference Saturday. We’re not going to be able to get to zero risk no matter what we do unless we control the outbreak in West Africa.
Frieden went on to say that limiting entry at the borders could actually put Americans at greater risk.
“In terms of the entry process, we really need to be clear that we don’t inadvertently increase the risk to people in this country by making it harder for us to respond to the needs in those countries, by making it harder to get assistance in and therefore those outbreaks would become worse, go on longer, and paradoxically, something that we did to try and protect ourselves might actually increase our risk,” Frieden said.
If we don’t let people with Ebola into America, we’ll be endangering Americans. And then Ebola wins. The only way to defeat Ebola is by supplying antibodies to more moderate diseases. Like AIDS. And the Bubonic Plague.
Taking in Americans with Ebola under quarantine is one thing. Taking in anyone else covered by “other people” is another.
Zero risk is a strawman. Since zero risk is never attainable, we should never do anything. Why even have airport security? We can’t achieve zero risk anyway. Same goes for airbags and brakes.
It’s the “seal ourselves off from the world” part that the Open Borders crowd really hates. Quarantine does actually stop disease outbreaks. Open borders spreads disease. But we’re in a new “settled science” phase in which spreading a disease is the way to beat it.
Did we give up when the Spanish dropped flu-bombs on Pearl Harbor?
Heck no! Afeared are we? Again, no!
Ebola? Why, we’ll wrap it up in cellophane!
Is that enthusiastic enough?
Ebola wins when it is permitted to spread.
That’s all that matters to ebola, transmission and propagation. And negative stories about ebola do not matter to ebola. It’s basic biology.
If ebola became endangered, some liberal somewhere would claim we don’t have the right to snuff it out altogether.
I like cigarette and blindfold better.
Some of these libtards will prefer “joint and blindfold”.
