Two self-proclaimed descendants of the American pancake icon are taking their heritage to court with a lawsuit seeking more than $2 billion from the Quaker Oats company, Kentuckys Courier Journal reported.
In a suit filed by the great grandsons of Anna Short Harrington, who went on to become "Aunt Jemima" in 1933, they claim they're owed a slice of the pancake company's revenue according to a long-forgotten agreement stretching back to its late-1800 creation.

The image symbolizes a sense of caring, warmth, hospitality and comfort, and is neither based on, nor meant to depict any one person," said a statement released from the PepsiCo subsidiary. LOL. That statement is next to a clearly racist old version of the Aunt Jemima add with a pidgin quote from her "I's in town, honey!" The lawsuit is silly but PepsiCo should stop digging before their defense gets any more ridiculous.

$2 billion? Geez, as long as you’re going to the trouble, why not go for $3 billion. After all, it’s only money.

Calling a black woman Aunt Jemima is racist even if that is her proper appellation./sarc
I once had an aunt named Fanny who was very short and very fat.
Am I entitled to record royalties for the song “Short Fat Fanny”? I hope so. (Larry Williams?)

More reparations.
And here I thought Obama made us all more proud of transcending our differences.
Silly me.

It seems that the ladies were paid for their work decades ago, and I bet they were glad to get it!
They agreed to specific compensation, and it was paid. It must have been consistent with compensation in the times they lived in. Nobody was cheated.

Jemima (יְמִימָה) is an interesting girl's name. It apparently means "dove" or "pigeon" in Hebrew.
