I don’t know that we are ever going to know exactly the nature of the contacts they had, whether they are cleared after quarantine or not, but one thing that I have been thinking is that surely the fiancé had sex with the deceased upon his arrival here, and before he became ill. We have been told about the continued viability of the virus in semen afterwards, but I doubt anyone knows about initial point of transferability prior to or upon showing symptoms.
Me, I expected it to happen. I knew he’d lost control when he built a fire on Main St and shot it full of holes.
TomGuy ... SOP has been to burn (cremate) all belongings. I would think burying a person infected with ebola would leave the disease to that body alive for a few days or more. Are there restrictions on cremation because of other fears by CDC?
We should know this week if the family comess down with it...well if they report it that is.
My recollection is that he was reported dead by Israeli news media not long after being reportedly on dialysis due to kidney failure, unconscious and on life support, then a course of ZMapp somehow materialized and he was being treated with it. I’m starting to suspect (along with several other FReepers) that he was gone when that first death was announced but the body was kept alive via artificial means in order to test treatment(s).
Man! That is some DEADLY stuff!
There need to be portable crematoria . Years ago I worked in one and it was not a simple procedure to “load” it. Far too much handling for this level of risk.
Hauling the body off site just increases the exposure risk.
It’s not airborne is it? They wouldn’t lie to us, would they?? Noooo, of cooourse not, especially not the current head of the CDC Tom Frieden who was a participant in what is probably the worst abuse of constitutional rights of US citizens in a major US city in US history when Mike Bloomberg was Mayor. “Despot” would be a better word. This piece of rat slime who basically turned New York city into a mini-North Korea and Tom Frieden was all a part of it. This is the Nazi they put in charge of the CDC. Doesn’t that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

Saw this morning that bodies are piling up in the streets of Liberia - out in the open - because the “death workers” haven’t been paid their hazard pay.
THAT’s how they’re disposing of ebola victims in Liberia — that’s how ebola is being spread...

Being symptomatic is regarded as virtually synonymous with being infectious, so if he was asymptomatic then likelihood of infecting others was low to nonexistent. We’ll see about the accuracy of that assumption, time will tell.
I would still like to know what Major Garrett meant by we are so screwed.
I read that she “slept in the same bed” and that might be enough for infection once his pores start to ooze the virus. My guess is she would be the mostly likely, then one of her daughter’s kids (toddlers).
