They are who the Conservatives would be if the Conservatives were still conservative.

Leader Nigel Farage is a Euroskeptic, and yet wants UKIP to basically take over the UK representation at the EU parliament. He opposed Scottish “independence”. He’s not too demanding of new UKIP political recruits, unconcerned about their personal lives, and with few exceptions doesn’t much care what position they take on issues of the day.

His strategy of joining the coalition by making it beholden to UKIP at the EU parliament is a sound one, and will accomplish the goal of UK sovereignty for the time being, but once Labour takes over again, it’ll be a massive struggle, and probably a futile one.

Scotland’s population is under six million, Wales’ is under four million, Northern Ireland’s is under two million, England’s is over 53 million. Whether or not the welfare addicts and Eurabians of Scotland stay or go won’t tip a hundred seats into Labour’s lap.

The Tories need to stop worrying about UKIP, and take on some of Labour’s bread and butter to enhance turnout and results.

England, 533
Scotland, 59
Wales, 40
N Ireland, 18
