Find the legal authority who issued the subpoenas (judge), and toss them out of office or the bench.

This is the new no-knock warrant to make the PC community feel good about their power.

Ya know, I’m getting pretty old and more than a little tired of these tinpot elected cretins and their nonsense. My reply to these people henceforth will simply be - come and get them.

Why only five? Hmm.....

IMO, to concentrate their legal firepower on just a few. Success in making an example of them would serve to intimidate all the others. Failure to do so would be minimized & they would retreat quietly.

But this has blown up in the mayor’s face, big time.

I don’t think the mayor’s compliance nazis thought this one through, especially its going viral. Annise Parker didn’t want this kind of fame.

I don’t see why everyone is so surprised. Priests were often thrown in the gulags for samizdat.

When my father was alive, he served as an usher for a big name megachurch. Dad was a big (not fat) guy and he would help some troublemaking visitors
“find the exit”. I used to joke that he was a bouncer. I suggest that all churches have a plan and some special ushers on call in case a troublemaker shows up. One of these ushers needs to have a video camera to record everything that happens in case of the inevitable lawsuit.

Why restrict this to only five pastors and only sermons? If the principle is sound, why not require every newspaper, magazine, website, and public bulletin board to submit a copy of anything mentioning Her "Honor"? Or anything else at all?

I don't really think blaming the whole thing on the compositional skills of some anonymous pro-bono legal schmuck is going to answer the mail here. Clearly the mayor still believes the demand is valid if couched in other terms. Clearly she has learned nothing from the affair and needs to be shown the door. That's up to the citizens of Houston and I wish them the best of luck.

“Let me just say that one word in a very long legal document which I know nothing about and would never have read and I’m vilified coast to coast,” Parker said.

Parker is being vilified "coast to coast" because she deserves to be vilified coast to coast. Period.

Your father was upholding freedom of religion, IMO.

Sooner or later angered Muslims in this country are going to get the notion they can invade & trash churches, just like they do in Egypt. A sermon critical of Islam, a spy in the pew, and here come the muzzies.

I believe churches should appoint quick response teams consisting of the men of their congregations, to deal with Islamic demonstrators. They’ll show up with placards, the media, & ominous demands for apologies. It’s coming.

This is the same mayor that a few months ago declared all bathrooms unisex.
