Republicans: Immigration reform is more likely to happen if we take the Senate
Buzzfeed ^

Key House Republicans say congressional action on immigration is much more likely if Republicans take control of the Senate.

The effort, two Republicans say, would likely involve individual measures rather than a broad, comprehensive bill favored by Democrats.

"I actually think it's more likely, if we take the Senate, that we will have immigration reform," said Rep. Raul Labrador. "We will be able to do it on a step-by-step approach like most Republicans have been asking to do and I think the American people want."

Labrador, who was a member of the bipartisan House group working on the issue before exiting, foresees a Republican-controlled Congress passing a series of bills that deal with the border and focus on interior security and guest-worker programs.

"I don't want to mislead; it's a difficult lift as we all know," Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart told BuzzFeed News. "But we would have a better shot at getting it done if Republicans take control of the Senate for the simple reason that it could be initiated in the House with close coordination with the Senate."

That’s exactly why I’m not voting.

Maybe the Republican definition of “reform” is different than the Democrat definition of “reform?”

Under my definition of reform, there is no more diversity lottery, and immigrants can’t bring in family members (other than immediate families), and a person can’t immigrate unless they can prove that they are a net positive to the country. (I.e., with a masters degree or higher).

Well, the ‘Rats are sure to take back the Senate in 2016 anyway, so amnesty can only hurt the GOPe hold on the House in 2016.

The Republican Party - snatching defeat from the jaws of victory since 1854.

Idiots.

Cue the line of abject morons that tell FR we all have to vote GOP ‘no matter what”. Not only are they responsible for electing the drew that stood there letting Ebola into America, but they are just responsible for the same people who allowed the invasion that brought modern polio in with their open borders, killed kids with it and want more of it. And they should be treated accordingly.

No matter what, after all.

Obama won’t sign any republican bill unless it gives him every damn thing he wants.... And he wants everything.

If republicans think they can get any IR piecemeal then they haven’t been paying attention the last 6 years.

You are not the only conservative who will not be voting. I knew there was still time for the Republicans to f*@# things up.

Code word that big corporations (Microsoft, Oracle, Motorola, etc) will get more H1Bs. Thus more unemployed American engineers.

Yep. The RINOs, including the closet RINOs, will stab conservatives in the back on open borders and a number of other issues.

The only version of "immigration reform" in Washington DC is

Give the Chamber of Commerce as many illiterate laborers, and the welfare state as many new clients, as their hearts desire.

I’d love for you to read this article and tell me again why you still want to see the RINOcrats take the Senate.

When you read the article, this is essentially what Labrador is saying. There appear to be a number of people who think the entire GOP wants amnesty first, and everything else later, so much later that it never happens.

Not bad, except for the E-Verify bit.

E-Verify amounts to a national database of every American, and a requirement that every American get permission from the government to work and earn their daily bread.

In other words, complete loss of liberty.

Stripping away our most precious rights simply because our elected “representatives” refuse to do one of the most fundamentally important sworn duties, which is to protect the states from invasion.

My idea of immigration reform is to enforce the laws already on the books to the letter of the law. I see you joined just a year ago, HMMMM. Troll?
