Earth is on pace to tie or even break the mark for the hottest year on record, federal meteorologists say.
That's because global heat records have kept falling in 2014, with September the latest example.
"This is one of many indicators that climate change has not stopped and that it continues to be one of the most important issues facing humanity," said University of Illinois climate scientist Donald Wuebbles.

Hottest year in 135 years !!!!
Wow !
What about all of the previous millennia ??
.
Over sampled Sahara.
Sure, and our long range forecast is for colder than average.
Let's see.
Lower heating costs.
Longer growing season.
Hmmmm... something in there somewhere has to be bad for us.
‘twas, and is, beautiful here in central WI this summer/fall. Cooler than normal by far.
The Earth has been getting warmer or colder for 4,000,000,000 years. The only constant in Earths environment is change. It will continue to change till its consumed by the Sun.
Man has been on earth .00075% of Earths age or 300,000 years.
Earth will continue to change after man is long gone.
The universe is dynamic. Suns supernova, galaxies collide, planets are formed and lost in black holes daily.
Man is merely a brief observer, not the cause.
Wuebbles gone wild hilarious claims of wall to wall severe weather on cable news is not science.
135 years of “records” (only the last 25 or so accurate to any precision) to analyze a planet somewhere in the six billion years old range. It’s almost as useful as deciding when you are eight, to make your lifetime investment plan based on the next two seconds of activity in eBay stock.
Not just cable news - every morning after the Ebola/Isis/political news, CBS always has a story on extreme weather somewhere. If not in the US, then elsewhere. However, "extreme" is not really extreme as drought, blizzards, hail, tornadoes, heavy rainfall, etc. have always been with us. With winter coming, they will no doubt ramp up the hyperbole.
I automatically assume that any public statement by this administration is a lie. I am rarely proved wrong.
Every cold front that comes through will be called the “Polar Vortex”.
They won’t dare normalize for just the supposed impact from Carbon. They just want to proclaim the gross numbers without mentioning that we are still coming out of the last ice age.
These proclamations are absolutely meaningless in the context of AGW.
Yet this is one of the coldest years on record.
When I run into a global warming alarmist I simply ask them how Greenland got it’s name...
Childish, I know, but it honestly makes many of them stop and think.
Even though we had the hottest August on record here in my part of the PNW, the actual max temperatures were nowhere near records — just stayed fairly hot all the time.
