"The guy on the right isn’t close to being protected."

The photos are from a press photo op at Bellevue. To demonstrate how well prepared they are for Ebola. (There is still close to zero danger from Ebola to anyone riding a NYC subway IMO, but I also fear the danger to doctors and nurses just went up a notch or two.) I can see 5 or 6 things wrong with the equipment the guy on the right is wearing, just off the top of my head.

I wonder why one medical person is totally covered, the other has bare skin and uncovered shoes? This is what we heard about what happened in Dallas, some were more protected than others...oh my we just do not learn from our mistakes these days...

We do know that you can give it on a bus but you can’t get it on a bus. Have the scientists made the same discovery about subways and Uber cars?

That Uber driver may as we’ll turn his/her car right now.

From what I’ve read around the web, he’s asymptomatic but in quarantine at the hospital. There were at least 20 or so nurses in Dallas who were asymptomatic, but were also staying at the hospital to wait out their quarantine time & to protect their families by staying away.

Our fearless leaders are going to mess around until Ebola finds a host in this country, bats and or other critters. If it finds a permanent home we will see periodic outbreaks just as they do in Africa. I know some will argue we don’t eat bush meat...but what about people that explore bat caves, and otherwise interact with critters?

From what I have heard and read, he had a temperature of 103 and diarrhea when he reported his symptoms to the CDC

...” I know some will argue we don’t eat bush meat”...

They sell it illegally in large cities to those who “miss the taste of home”...and have been caught doing so. I watched an investigative report on this.

Also felt fatigued for a few days...which is common with Ebola coming on. Nurse from Ohio had same while in Ohio.

It’s hard to find infected animals. Ebola monkeys are often found dead.

When did he return from Africa? Jetlag can make you feel pretty crappy. So, he may have just thought it was that.

I dunno about this Ebola, apparently you aren't feeling too bad. You are traveling, and bowling and getting haircuts and all sorts of stuff. Then suddenly, you are not.

Sounds different from any flu I ever get. The flu hits me like a ton of bricks. One minute OK, next minute on way to death's door. I aint walking around, socializing and using public transportation in, even, the beginning stages of the flu. I am in bed, aching, fever, chills, puking...etc.

I thought there are only 4 and I don't think Bellevue is one of the four.

Also, according to the Daily Mail, the Doc visited a restaurant. Are the servers and dish washing part of the kitchen in danger?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2805673/Ebola-panic-Brooklyn-Doctor-treated-patients-West-Africa-visited-hip-bowling-hotspot-ONE-DAY-rushed-hospital-103F-fever.html

Earlier that day, he went on a three-mile jog and took the 1 train to the High Line garden - a popular tourist destination - before eating out at a restaurant.

Yeah, except he was recently knee deep in ebola patients. So he should have been as conservative as possible within the self-quarantine period, not riding public transportation, bowling etc, etc... I appreciate his efforts in Africa. I don’t appreciate his lack of effort in the USA!

The last part of that: "puking...etc." sounds more like norovirus, as the GI problems are not that common in adult influenza. So does the extremely abrupt onset.

Yeah, I wasn't defending him. I am just a little concerned when they say, "Oh you feel like you have the flu". It sure seems you feel a lot better, in the initial days, that anyone I know who gets the flu. It seems almost like you feel sorta like you are getting sick but, maybe not really. That is kinda scary if you think about it.

The Spanish nurse was out getting her hair done. I can't remember any time I got my hair done or that I even cared if I had hair anymore when I had the flu. Crap, when I got the flu last winter, I woke up feeling fine. By 9 am I was feeling pretty crappy, by noon I was suffering, by 2:30 it took every ounce of strength I had in me to go pick my son up from school. Then I went to bed. For seven solid days.
