Court: Facebook wrong way to tell man you're pregnant
Fox News ^ | October 23, 2014 | John Johnson

Oklahoma's Supreme Court has ruled that when it comes to informing a man that he is about to become a father, a Facebook post doesn't cut it, legally speaking.

In this case, a woman had a three-month fling with a man named Billy McCall in 2011, then realized she was pregnant after they broke things off, reports the Oklahoman.

She sent him a Facebook message informing of the big news, gave birth in 2012, then immediately put the baby up for adoption. McCall says he never saw the Facebook post and learned about the baby only after it was born, explains Courthouse News Service.

Lower courts declared that McCall's parental rights had been terminated, but the state Supreme Court disagreed. "This court is unwilling to declare notice via Facebook alone sufficient to meet the requirements of the due processes clauses of the United States and Oklahoma Constitutions," wrote a justice in the majority opinion, according to the Wall Street Journal.

These cases would give Solomon a headache.

Reading this, I got the mental picture of Solomon, when the two women brought the child before him, both saying she was the true mother, of raising his hand to this forehead and saying "Oy ve!".

You acknowledge he was no more than a dog.

How, then, can you not be aware why the mother has “greater ights” as you put it?

Unless you do not know basic mammalian biology.

And, it seems you do not, e.g. “the child is part of both of them irrespective of their marital situation”.

The child is not a part of either of them. It is it’s own individual human.

“He has every right to his child when the mother gave it away.”

Why does he have any rights?

I know the current liberal left amoral secular society we now live in says he has rights in an animalistic way, as a stud. That’s how we see humanity now, as animal.

But I do not see why he has any right to the child.

He is not married to her.

And the mother did a very loving and responsible thing in letting the child be adopted.

That is hardly giving the child away, as you put it.

Fact of the matter is, more than any Obama or Democrat leftist can dream of, these type of men who will impregnate a woman and leave her before he even knows if she is pregnant have caused the harm to our society we experience today.

Laz. I’m pregnant.

...and a whole 'nother can of legal worms gets opened.

[Besides, I thought he had a 1-800 number for these things.]

The more I think about this, I have to say the guy must have known since he was in his early 20’s and on face book. The mother should have notified him by the certificated notice, I do believe. I am sure he seeks damages from the state for taking away his parental rights. In his immaturity, will he be thinking of the little girl who is 2 years old now. I would award him damages but I wouldn’t take away the child from it’s only mom and dad now only if I knew those parents were unfit. Poor little kid if the adults try to pull her life apart as years go by.

Not necessarily - IIRC, Facebook allows members to block/ignore other members.

Ironically, if the whore of a mother had aborted, the situation would not be as complicated. Now, the man whore must battle with the adopters.

I would think that the court would require an acknowledgement from the father that he was aware of the child and was willing to waive his rights to custody.

I mean, what did this woman do, just state she had told him? Print out the facebook message?

None of that makes sense to me.

I would think that some of his FB friends told him. Text, call or meet up, someone knew. Who is to know that he didn’t know as well, you know. Also, having sex with a woman, and not to recall...okay, but does that sound very stable. who knows he maybe after $$$ for the damages. Does he want the child now? Does he suspect abuse?

Too many unanswered questions about the dad at this time for me. It’s a big mess for the little child if the grown ups make it that way. I will stay on the side on the child at this point and pray for a good outcome. I am glad the mother didn’t abort the little baby. She maybe of quilt of not notifying him but she gave the baby a gift of life.
