The former Delta unit(1st Special Forces, Detachment D) is commonly called ACE around the military. Don't hear them called Delta much anymore. Their current real unit designation is highly classified but is another alphabet soup name(I am told). In these days of JSOC I often see mixed units from all SMU's that I believe are mixed service(s). You still have to be in the Navy to be a SEAL, transfers do happen but most often from the Marines SpecOps units.
BTW I don't think you wasted bandwidth. I know several SpecOps(both serving and ex) that read FR and appreciate it when folks try to set it straight. The SAS/SBS thing has been around for decades - even in the UK.
