UC Berkeley Students Seek To Block Bill Maher Speech

Students allege Bill Maher's invitation should be rescinded because of statements about Islam Earlier this year, several prominent commencement speakers withdrew after student protests around the nation Comedian Bill Maher is scheduled to be the speaker at UC Berkeley’s mid-year commencement, but some students, who object to what they allege to be his anti-Muslim statements, are asking administrators to rescind the invitation.
A petition urging the university to drop Maher from the Dec. 20 event has garnered more than 1,400 signatures, according to the student newspaper The Daily Californian. The protest was started by the Change.org group and is backed by the Middle Eastern, Muslim and South Asian Coalition on campus, the paper reported.
“It’s not an issue of freedom of speech, it’s a matter of campus climate,” student senator Marium Navid told the newspaper. “The First Amendment gives him the right to speak his mind, but it doesn’t give him the right to speak at such an elevated platform as the commencement. That’s a privilege his racist and bigoted remarks don’t give him.”

I have to say, it’s enjoyable watching Bill Maher make liberal heads explode. Such a quandry for the Leftist ninnies: do they endorse the hedonism and hatred of religion which comes with their atheism (attempting to avoid cognitive dissonance), or do they cow to the PC and the victim politics of “moderate” Islam? I hope both sides end up killing each other (metaphorically, although I’m okay with it being literal as well) so that right-thinking conservatives can finally control the debate on college campuses.

The comments are pretty good. Most are slamming the student “regent” Saifuddin for being intolerant and against free speech.
Bill Maher has also publicly supported Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu. Oh oh, can’t have that. Liberals are rabid supporters of radical Islam but nevermind that it’s a religion that has long waged a “War on women” in addition to all its other bad deeds. What unites liberals and radical Islam is their blatant hatred for Israel.
Yes, Cal Berkeley. This is the home of the collegiate free speech movement as led by radical Mario Savior in the mid 1960s. Is Savior who died in 1996 spinning in his grave?

Muslims have come to dominate a number of student governments and planning organizations at universities across the nation.
I would bet that there's many more libs like Maher who think the same way about Islam but are too cowardly to open their mouths and reveal their feelings. So I'll give some credit to the normally anal orifice Maher for speaking truth to morons.
