New fight over Ebola quarantine looms as nurse returns to Maine

A nurse who treated Ebola patients in West Africa before being briefly and controversially quarantined in New Jersey could be the focus of a new battle over state health policy as she returns to her home state of Maine.

Kaci Hickox left a Newark hospital on Monday and was expected to arrive in the northern Maine town of Fort Kent early Tuesday. Maine health officials have already announced that Hickox is expected to comply with a 21-day voluntary in-home quarantine put in place by the state's governor, Paul LePage.

However, one of Hickox's lawyers, Steve Hyman, said he expected her to remain in seclusion for only the "next day or so" while he works with Maine health officials. He said he believes the state should follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines that require only monitoring, not quarantine, for health care workers who show no symptoms after treating Ebola patients.

"She's a very good person who did very good work and deserves to be honored, not detained, for it," he said.

She reminds me of Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Looks like her younger sister with the mayonnaise hairdo.

That was exactly what I was thinking! And just as ugly on the inside too it seems...

You know, no one deserves to get Ebola. BUT...

Can you imagine the s-storm that will occur if she gets sick in the next two weeks?

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

I wonder if she’s swapped out the mayonnaise since her return from ‘giving’.

This idiocy....by healthcare workers...considering themselves immune based only on the fact that they walk around with the obligatory stethoscope draped around their necks. What vain idiocy! It reminds me of the Rats when they were trying to pass Obolacare without enough votes, deciding to just DEEM it passed. These vain, assinine prima donas are obviously DEEMING themselves immune because of who they are! Thank God she’s awaaaay up in northern Maine.

If a 21 day quarantine is good enough for the troops who were forced to go to the hot zone, it is damned sure good enough for this attention seeking liberal piece of waste.

***” ‘She’s a very good person who did very good work and deserves to be honored, not detained, for it,’ he said.”***

...because as everyone knows, and has been scientifically proven, viruses do not attach to someone who is “a very good person.” How, you may ask? Viruses just know these things...

Don’t these people understand how incredibly STUPID they sound?

Could be why she raised such a stink: no fresh mayo in the tent. It may also be her excuse when she gets caught at the local market in the next few days - she's not risking the health of other people, just looking for fresh salad fixins...

One thing you will find if you really talk to a liberal is that they will, after telling you how we all have to sacrifice this and that for the needy/environment/whatever, find some way to excuse how they shouldn't have to because they care, they volunteer they feel, more and thus deserve exclusion from the actions for which they call.

Yes, Maine has a republican governor. The state of Maine is about evenly split between Liberals in the cities along the coast that make their living off the tourist industry and salt of the earth types(lumber and fishing)that make their living off the land and sea.

The governor was the owner of Mardens, a chain of discount home center yards. My company sells them.

Remember that everyone seeks righteousness.
If they somehow acknowledge that her works and beliefs do not make her a good person,

then they lose their own path to salvation.

Women may actually like that kind of look. But to me, it is just plain NASTY looking, frankly. I put that look in the same class as women who prefer those hairstyles with the back cut like a man’s barber cut. Short in the back, beveled and such, but normal looing from the front. To me it reminds me of the hind end of a horse.

I’m assuming that’s a photo of her before she starts hemorrhaging from every orifice.

Will we be treated to an “after” shot to complete her 15 minutes of faux-good-samaritan infamy?

Yes, but whether or not she is a good person has no bearing on whether or not she has a virus! “God sends His rain on the just and unjust.”

Not everyone here in Maine is liberal. The southern-most part of the state, where Portland is located, is, unfortunately, very liberal. People elsewhere in Maine call southern Maine “North Massachusetts.”

Paul LePage, our conservative governor, is up for re-election next week and the latest poll has him ahead by 10 points. He is one of a kind.

I can’t stand stand this so-called nurse, either. She’s a self-absorbed liberal, like most of them.
