Nurse Kaci Hickox says she won't obey Maine's Ebola quarantine: I won't be "bullied by politicians"

Nurse Kaci Hickox — who remains symptom-free after spending three days in a New Jersey isolation tent after flying home from Ebola-stricken West Africa — remains under quarantine at home in Maine, but for only another day, she tells TODAY's Matt Lauer.

“I don’t plan on sticking to the guidelines. I remain appalled by these home quarantine policies that have been forced upon me, even though I am in perfectly good health and feeling strong and have been this entire time completely symptom free,” said Hickox, who wouldn’t emerge from Maine’s 21-day voluntary quarantine until Nov. 10.

“I truly believe this policy is not scientifically nor constitutionally just, and so I’m not going to sit around and be bullied around by politicians and be forced to stay in my home when I am not a risk to the American public.”

Hickox, who pointed out that top health officials believe a quarantine is unnecessary unless someone develops symptoms, also said:

"women who pluck their eyebrows, the more they pluck the more they’ve had/have problems dealing with men."

Why do some women pluck out their eyebrows then draw them back on with markers?

i think some do it b/c of being able to make them look exactly the way they want without plucking.

it’s all a control thing.

In both states, they are being asked to stay in voluntary quarantine, which Hickox said she would agree to when she was released from New Jersey, and before Maine let her back in. Now she is going against even that. Some nurse!

She does not have Ebola and thus far no American has died of Ebola.

However, at this very moment there are tens of thousands of people on flights from Asia heading to the US. Some have the flu virus and as a result somewhere between 30,000 and 50,000 will die of the flu.

Do you also want to quarantine everyone who flies in from Asia?

Sounds like you should go and keep her company until they know of she does or does not have it.

Every time I see that, I think that she’s not really a hands on kind of nurse. Her bedside manner must be awful, so she had to go into a different area. She’s all about image, and nothing about caring or compassion.

Load her up immediately and send her back to Africa with a one way ticket. What a selfish loathsome person she is.

Anyone wonder what this is really all about? Why would she be making such a stink about this and threatening legal action when her time in quarantine would be over months or years before any court review? What is her angle? What is the Obama Regime's angle?

I think that this is ultimately about establishing a legal framework for a Supreme Court-affirmed ruling on mass-asymptomatic quarantine.

Think about it like this: You've got a radical leftist operative threatening legal action in two states so far, and refusing to comply when the quarantine will be over soon. So, who are the people who are complaining about her non-compliance? It appears to be conservatives for social-health reasons. Obviously, a widespread outbreak of a highly-contagious disease with a high mortality rate would be disastrous to this nation, and any right-minded person would be concerned.

But she isn't. Is it because she knows Ebola more than anyone else as it regards to epidemiology? No, she doesn't. But that's beside the point. She is threatening legal action.

So, how does this all play out? She files a lawsuit, she loses, appeals it all the way to SCOTUS where she loses for good. Okay, the quarantine period is long-expired and she's healthy. She'll say she's doing this for the principle.

And she will have been. But, the principle she wants is that the State is legally-justified in establishing quarantine-purposed internment camps. The SCOTUS affirmed legal basis for national security, as I understand it, in the Koramatsu decision and now it will be for health reasons as well as national security, and when the bubbling American Ebola Outbreak of 2015-16 becomes out-of-control (manufactured by importation of Ebola by the Obama Regime), these interment camps will find widespread popular support. Popular and Constitutional.

The problem is that asymptomatic people will find themselves butterfly-netted and quarantined where they will die.

This might all sound rather paranoid and conspiratorially-minded, but I think if you look at the evil bastards in power now, it's not at all hard to see this happening.

If one considers Alinski's 5th Rule For Radicals: Ridicule, its power is in that it causes a reaction on which the radical can capitalize. Make a person react in a way that you want, then you have empowered yourself. If you want to throw a person on the ground, you lightly push him. When he pushes back, you use his momentum and throw him over yourself (Judo).

I really think this is the plan. Not only do they get what they want, but the victims will be begging for, nay demanding it.

Ayers gets his 25 million dead capitalists.

This histrionic nurse is another Wendy Davis trying to become in the new darling of the democratic MSM.

This nurse is a typical democratic spoiled brat that in pursuit of his political agenda she puts in grave danger the health of her family and neighbors. If she had arrived in NY, where the governor is Democrat, instead of NJ, she would have not mounted such a disgraceful show.

While Obama disregards the Ebola menace, the Ebola panic spreads at the Defense Department.

Soldiers returning home from Ebola infested African countries are quarantine 21 days in Italy before entering U.S.

430 doctors and nurses died killed by the disease while treating Ebola patients in Africa...

Some African countries put 42 days in quarantine those coming from Ebola countries.

Why are health care workers coming from Ebola countries not forced to be at least 21 days in quarantine when they return to U.S.A. for the protection of their own families and the country?

TAKES ONE’S BREATH AWAY....:

This is mind boggling!!! Don’t you think it’s about time Pee Wee developed a PLAN??? This is a time for LEADERSHIP, not his constant waffling. Is it time to panic? Of course not. The time to panic is when it is too late to develop a consistent plan of action. What is the incubation time for STUPIDITY?

Lewiston Idaho veterinarian’s Letter to the Editor re: Ebola, Nails it!

The present Ebola crisis in the world is frightening.
I have submitted the following letter to the editor of the Lewiston Morning Tribune:

Editor, Lewiston Morning Tribune:

If I wish to import a horse into the United States from Liberia or any African country other than Morocco, the horse needs to undergo a 60 day quarantine period at a USDA approved quarantine facility prior to mingling with the general population of horses in this country. Africa has a disease called African Horse Sickness that does not exist in the US; this is the way we have kept it out of this country.

African Horse Sickness does not cause disease in people, only horses; our government has determined that it would be devastating to the US horse industry if it were to come here.

The United States (and virtually all other countries) require a myriad of tests and often quarantine prior to bringing in a foreign animal.

I can’t legally cross state lines in the United States with a horse or cow without a health certificate signed by a USDA accredited veterinarian stating that the animal has been inspected and found free of infectious disease. In most cases blood tests are also required. In fact I can’t legally cross the Snake River and ride my horse in Idaho without a health certificate and a negative blood test for Equine Infectious Anemia.

I’m not complaining; the United States of America, the States of Idaho and Washington as well as the other 48 states take the health of our livestock very seriously, and we have a very good record at keeping foreign animal diseases out of our country. I am happy to do my part to maintain biosecurity in our animal population.

If I am a resident of Liberia incubating Ebola, to enter the United States all I need to do is present a valid visa, and lie when asked if I have been exposed to Ebola. Within hours (no quarantine required) I can be walking the streets of any city in the United States.

I feel very fortunate to live in a country that values our animals so highly.

There are many things to pray about. Praying that an irresponsible person doesn’t have ebola is way down the list.

Remember the old story about the person waiting for God to save him while stuck on a roof top while the water was rising?

God will do what he wants to do. If it includes saving irresponsible people then I guess he will.

“She does not have Ebola or even Typhoid.”

Hopefully for her sake and the sake of others she does not. However we do know beyond a shadow of doubt she does have an over inflated sense of self importance.
