Cruz on Apple CEO Tim Cook being gay: 'Personal decision'
The Hill ^ | October 30, 2014 | Peter Sullivan

Posted on 10/30/2014 12:23:27 PM PDT by BurningOak

"Those are his personal choices. I’ll tell you, I love my iPhone," Cruz said.

"Listen, Tim Cook makes his personal decisions, and that is his life. My focus is on the constitutional question of who has the authority to make decisions," he later added.

Cruz said that marriage is a "question for the states" because of the country's federalist system.

"This is something we’ve seen over and over again, which is the federal government and federal courts deciding they don’t trust the people," Cruz said. "They look down on the people, they don’t trust us to make judgments about our own lives, so the federal government and federal courts are going to step in and impose their own policy preferences."

Yes, so we take our ball and go home and give ourselves a 0% chance of affecting any outcomes. Good plan!

According to the definition of "purist" you just gave me, I do not fit into that category. But your response to this poster is not fair to what he posted. He didn't say he was going to drop out of the process or not vote for anyone at all. Did he tell you that? I didn't find that he did.

Not voting straight R in an election doesn't necessarily a purist make, by your definition (100% agreement or no vote).

Never promoted staying home.
Bizbroker, you seem to have great disdain for those standing on principles. I say its misplaced.

Rewarding liberal Republicans won’t help. I don’t expect 100% agreement but if a Republican emulates John Mccain then that Republican doesn’t deserve my vote.

“Tedster, please ditch the iphone. You don’t need it.

Get Nokia! Nokia mucho better!”

LOL! Not.

Apple is a company with thousands of employees. It makes GREAT products.

Personally I’d prefer to see someone besides Tim Cook as CEO mainly because I don’t think he’s that bright - that is also evident in this PR move. There were Apple CEOs before him, and there will be Apple CEOs after him. Who happens to be CEO at any given time should have no bearing in evaluating technology products.

You have it right that Cook is not bright.

I never said Apple products are not great. But Nokia stands out and you should check it out.

I have had an iphone and now have a Samsung android. The Android puts the iphone to shame in several categories especially Google Maps/Calendar/Search and too many others to list. And I have had a friend’s iphone 6 in my hand and see no vast improvement. It’s a great phone but I don’t see a need to follow the cult herd in cheerleading it.

Check out Nokia. Those products are truly gems. It’s a Finnish company and hasn’t had as much marketing exposure as Apple or Android but their features more than makeup for the lack of expensive advertising.

You should list them. All the Google stuff is available on iPhone as well, if you're willing to give up your privacy.

"And I have had a friend’s iphone 6 in my hand and see no vast improvement. It’s a great phone but I don’t see a need to follow the cult herd in cheerleading it."

The main thing is the lack of fiddling to make it work well, along with the lack of malware - which Android has in plenty. It also has many top feature, such as performance, the best selection of apps, and a great camera.

Well, it's effectively an American company now, since Microsoft owns it. Regardless, it sits at low single digit marketshare for many reasons, including a major lack of apps. Given my intimate knowledge of Microsoft's poor software design skills, my advice is to stay away. :-)

> “The main thing is the lack of fiddling to make it work well, along with the lack of malware - which Android has in plenty.”

I have had Android for more than 4 years and have dozens of colleagues who have had it for similar periods. We are all heavy users and not one has ever complained about malware on Android. Google Playstore does a fine job at screening out malware. Your claim is baseless and is grasping at made up fantasy projections to somehow boost a myth of Apple security.

> “It also has many top feature, such as performance, the best selection of apps, and a great camera.”

Your claims of top features of performance and best selection of apps are myths of your own making. And there is no better camera phone than Nokia; not even close.

Your cheerleading of Apple only makes it less credible as most of the world now is Android with Nokia gaining ground. Any of those non-Apple users would laugh at your ludicrous claims that also seem to arise with a misplaced smug arrogance. You are so yesterday that it’s a pity to have to watch your meltdown.

I have no disdain...and why is it that defeating Dems at all costs is not just as admirable a principle?

It is admirable but the way you refer to Conservatives as purists comes across as hostile while not placing harsh tones on mush Republicans whose actions have frustrated Conservative attempts to stop Dem policies.

Okay, simple question, Do you believe I will go to Hell after death because I’m Jewish?

Of course not….going to hell has nothing to do with one’s ethnicity. Whatever could have given you that idea? Good grief…. you do know that Jesus was a Jewish carpenter, right? Going to Hell only has to do with the choices that people make while they are here on Earth. Having said that, what I believe about you is unimportant… the only thing important is what you believe and why. And if you want an argument about this, go and argue with Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” This is just a statement of fact. ALL humanity is guilty……every man, woman and child of every race and creed.

Psalm 51:5 “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.”Another statement of fact…. Ever since the downfall of Adam and Eve, every person born is born into sin.

2 Peter 3:9. “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”God has made a way of escape through something called repentance for one’s sins. He doesn’t anyone to perish regardless of who they are, where they come from etc. These are promises for everyone. It matters not who you are…. The only thing that matters is what you do with the choices that have been given to you.

Luke 13:3 “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”There it is…. Laid out as clearly as can be done. Two choices await…. Repent of one’s sins and claim the promises of God that include an escape from Hell and life eternal in Heaven. Or don’t repent and perish and be cast into Hell. These are the same choices that are placed before every person who has ever lived.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Out of love, Jesus came and died for us…. trust Him that His promises are true and that He will take away the sins that condemn you, repent and He will make you one of his own......a lost sheep that is found and now in the fold and to be with Him for all eternity.

Yes, as opposed to being called a liberal, idiot, or traitor by the holier than thou purists. I hear whining about this supposed contempt I am showing but not once have you refuted the scenario that I posted or anything else that I posted. You just whine about supposed hostility without offering any solutions of your own. I posted a plan on how to take the country back, all you have done is whine and try to act like you are the only one with principles.

Sure it is, yet still not one solution or refutation of anything I have posted from you. You sure you are a conservative? Because you argue and rationalize just like a liberal. All emotion, no fact.

Once again that’s your opinion which is wrong.

Are you sure you’re a Conservative as Conservatives don’t show disdain towards purists that is Conservatives while giving compromisers a pass as you have done.

I have posted a plan and solutions for Conservatives to take the country back. All you have done is whine about how you don’t get any respect. Not one solution, not one refutation of any fact I have posted. Just whining!

How does a pure conservative get elected in the Northeast? How can we take the country back? Tell me how only voting for pure conservatives, even in races they will not win, helps us one little bit. At least with a Rino, we can influence them to some degree and get some of what we want. How can we do that with dems or if we lose? Offer some solutions instead of whining.

Nope I haven’t whined. I have commented on your disdain towards Conservative purists.

It seems you have more faith in a Conservative’s ability to influence a RINO than I do.
