Just learned how to completely disassemble/re-assemble my Ruger Mark II. Little tricky and had to buy a rubber mallet.

Friend just got a moson? Russian ex military surplus. We just shot it. WOW. Was my shoulder sore the next day. And he already replaced the metal butt plate with a honeycomb recoil pad TOO. 7.62 x 54 baby. Went through a sideways 2x4 at 100 yds. Has a giant bayonette on it too. Thing’s like 5’5” standing up.

Yes they do kick. I have the carbine version (M45) and I guess ‘cause of the short barrel it has a flame like an M60 that lights up range when it is shot at night. Big flash that has startled the other shooters when fired at night.
Very cool to shoot at night gun.

If you can do that successfully 5 times *in a row*, you get the grand prize.

Mosin-Nagant , the primary Russian service rifle in ww2
Bolt action , made a good sniper rifle in the right hands

It’s a Mosin Nagant, and it’s a damn fine rifle. Get one for yourself and learn how to use it correctly. They’re cheap and so is the ammunition.

It was just getting started.

The 30-06 used in the Garand would penetrate 48” of wood. The Mosin round has similar ballistics

Mosin-Nagant

Realize they were mostly shot by Russians wearing thick Winter uniforms.

I wouldn’t shoot one with a metal butt plate without a nicely padded shooting jacket. I like my shoulder too much.

They’re still a great surplus buy.

If you and your friend haven’t seen this, you need to:

Do not put on the bayonet indoors.
Have a scratched ceiling fan from that and I was sitting down LOL

My favorite gun shop guys invited some of us customers to go shooting. 100 yard range carved out of bottom land pasture (watch your step!), organised enough to be safe while allowing for lots of firearms goodness. Plenty weapons swapping. I fired a fellow’s metal buttplate MN twice. First shot right on target but all I can say about the second is my shoulder flinched, LOL.
