Why You Shouldn’t Vote
Townhall.com ^ | November 2, 2014 | Derek Hunter

Posted on 11/02/2014 5:33:59 AM PST by Kaslin

Look, I’m not going to lie to you – your vote matters. But let’s be honest, there are Republicans on the ballot who aren’t very conservative. Most of them don’t agree with me on everything and surely don’t agree with you on everything. In fact, many of them are downright awful.

So if you find yourself in a state where the Senate race is close, and you don’t like some of the things the Republican candidate stands for – just stay home.

A message must be sent: We conservatives could not beat all the people we don’t like in the primary, so we’re not going to vote.

That’ll show the establishment. That’ll show the country. That’ll show the future.

So if you’re a conservative in Colorado, don’t vote for Cory Gardner. If you’re in Iowa, show that Joni Ernst what’s what! Live in North Carolina? Who does that Thom Tillis think he is, anyway? From Kentucky? Let Mitch McConnell know who’s boss! Georgia? David Perdue? I don’t think so. Kansas? Teach that Pat Roberts a lesson! Live in New Hampshire? Scott Brown – yuck, am I right?

Look, if conservatives don’t draw a line in 2014, when will it be drawn?

Just because tea party and conservative candidates couldn’t win a majority in primary challenges doesn’t mean they aren’t the majority. It was dirty tricks and the establishment that screwed you … everyone knows that. So show the establishment you won’t take not getting your way anymore.

Honestly, what’s the point of voting for a candidate who agrees with you a majority of the time? Don’t vote. Let someone who you agree with on nothing win, and then next time – in six years – that person comes up for reelection, maybe the Republican Party will come to its senses and let you get your way.

I mean, what would be better for the country – Harry Reid or Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader? Obviously Harry Reid. Mitch McConnell is a squish on a few things, wouldn’t run blocker for President Obama and wouldn’t be a rubberstamp for any Supreme Court nominee, or any court, for that matter. Where’s the lesson for the establishment for that?

Sure, I know, the country will have a court system packed with activist judges, and the president will use his magic pen and phone to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and who knows what else, but principle will be maintained. That’s a moral victory, right? Those count for something in politics, right? They have to count for something…

Of course, they count for nothing. Yet that nothing is what many millions of Americans, including many of you (judging by comments on other columns in which I’ve dealt with this topic), are prepared to vote for by stubbornly refusing to vote for a candidate who isn’t “your candidate.”

Sorry, your candidate lost, and your remaining choice sucks. I get it, I’ve been there. But so what! Get over yourself. Everyone who voted in the primary and your choice lost. It happens. It’s part of life. So you’re just going to quit?

If you want to right the ship of state, how did you think that would work? Your one chosen candidate would somehow undo half a century of constitutional disregard in 20 minutes? Of course not. It’s all going to be incremental. Nothing this big turns on a dime. But before it can get any better it has to stop getting worse.

Harry Reid remaining majority leader in the Senate means things continue to get worse. Barack Obama packing the courts with like-minded judges means things will continue to get worse.

There will come a point of no return, where we will tip over that ledge from which there is no coming back. If you stay home, or you cast a “message” vote for some third party nothing-burger, that’s what you’re voting for. That’s what you’ll get, and that’s the country you’ll be leaving for your kids to inherit.

A vote for anyone other than the Republican, no matter who that Republican is, is a vote for Harry Reid and Barack Obama.

You want to purge the party? Do it from a position of strength. I’m all for a battle royale for the soul of the Republican Party, but not until AFTER the Democrats are vanquished.

Tuesday, go vote. Vote for the Republicans. Send a message that you are not a moody, unreliable person who will take your ball and go home if you don’t get your way, but that you accept your party’s primary decision. It’s a decision you don’t like. It’s a decision you’ll fight in the next primary if necessary. But for the good of the country, you’ll live in “now” and work for the future.

Anything else is a vote for progressives, and anyone who does that is no conservative.

No ace you wake the hell up!

Try and understand if you don't get the candidate you want in the primaries you have lost!

So do your best to win in the primaries.

That way you don't have to stand in the corner sucking your thumb while the rest of us are out voting.

A third party is not going to cut it. It never has. So do your best to straighten out the Republican party or keep standing in the corner.

If Obama was running as a Republican, these same people would do the same shaming, intimidation, castigating and ridicule of those Conservatives who say they are not going to vote for him no matter what.

Voted for a Conservative instead of McConnell today. I feel excellent in standing up on my principles, even I’m the only one standing.

I wonder if the democrat party would welcome committed Christian conservatives.

The Republican Party has rejected Conservatives (including Christians) for over 100 years. Why would Democrats treat us any better?

So does that mean you sat on your butt or voted third party? Which both meant you gave your votes to the rats.

Don’t tell me how to vote. And, don’t tell me what my vote means. I wouldn’t presume to tell you either. Not that it’s any of your business, but fyi, I vote. Sometimes I withhold my vote from people who don’t support me, which means I leave some slots blank. There are always candidates down ticket, and often initiatives to support. But, I no longer “hold my nose” to vote. Haven’t “held” my nose for a long time.

There. Now you know more than you have any business knowing about how I vote. Freely given . . . so, you’re welcome.

“So does that mean you sat on your butt or voted third party? Which both meant you gave your votes to the rats.”

Poor Kaslin is severely math impaired.

Kaslin, mathematically and materially, not to mention spiritually, the ONLY way to give your vote to "the rats" is to vote for Democrats.

When you vote for Republicans who are functional Democrats, such as Romney, you are voting to INCREASE leftism in the Republican party, nothing more, nothing less. ONLY that action, of endorsing increased leftism in the GOP, is accomplished by voting for a leftist Republican.

You may intend to vote "against" the Democrats, but Kaslin, the hard cold truth that you cannot handle (yet) is that intentions are ABSTRACT and ONLY IN THE MIND.

Intentions are exactly like wishes -- existent in your imagination ONLY. Your vote, on the other hand, is an ACTION that has the very material result of ENDORSING a candidate and everything that candidate advocates.

That you are unable to grasp the profound and significant difference between intent and action is ... indicative of your lack of mathematical reasoning powers such that you believe in the tooth fairy myth that not voting or voting third party is "giving your vote to the rats." You would lose at tic tac toe using that kind of "logic."

Don’t be too hard on Kaslin. He’s OK.

How I’ve handled the issue is what I do. Whether it’s right, or not, I have no idea. It’s simply how I’ve chosen to deal with the question. I’m doing what I think is best, of course.

You’ve described the issue very well.

Dear Kas,

re:”Did that help you changing to libertarian? I am not saying that all libertarian are bad. John Stossel for example is my favorite Libertarian. But by voting 3rd party you are handing your votes over to the left”

The politicians did help me in my choice, since both parties ‘left me and I not them”.

I vote by principle, i.e., ‘what is good for the nation - what will prove good for the next generation’, as I was taught, so many years ago, when Americans would beat the snot out of another American saying anything bad about this country.

I ‘registered’ Libertarian, to be the thorn in the side of both the Demoncrats and the Repubelicans.

I do NOT vote ‘party line’, to the point that I broke the nose of the union rep on the work floor, when he tried to intimidate me to vote ‘the union line’.

Voting ‘party line’ takes little or no thought, nor guts. My granduncle was the president of the local Democrat group, in Stamford, CT. My mother was a Democrat to where she believed I would be a little Democrat robot. When, in 1968, old boozer whoremonger and killer of his secretary Ted Kennedy foisted an anti-gun law on America, I knew it was wrong. I disappointed her to her last breath.

They won’t. The only real option is to work WITHIN the GOP and guide it towards more conservative agenda. Getting flustered will accomplish nothing. Staying out of the game accomplishes big fat zero. Like the song by ABBA says “Winner takes it all, Losers must fall”.

Kozak:

Oh, I must have forgotten that Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, Albert Sydney Johnston, Joe Johnston, Nathan Bedford Forrest and J.E.B. Stuart used to fight Lincoln in the primary 365 days per year but support him on election day every four years.

That's nice that you did not vote for Myth Romney in the primary and donated to others. But then, what separated the men from the boys is what happened next. The boys "sucked it up" and voted for Myth Romney, thereby negating their anti-Romney activity in the primary.

The men, recognizing that Myth Romney was every bit as bad as Obozo except on protecting Muffie's trust fund, refused to "suck it up" and continued to vote against Myth Romney as well as voting against Obozo. I had no use for Myth's pro-abort leftist daddy and mommy and I have no use for the pro-abort, pro-gay everything, gun grabbing, leftist judge nominating Myth Romney.

I confess the mistake of voting for Meghan McCain's useless think alike daddy in 2008. I also did not therefore vote for Obozo that year either. It was my last time holding my nose to vote for a ruling class GOP-E "Republican," a streak stretching back to Richard Nixon in 1968, with the exception of Ronaldus Maximus. I won't hold my nose again.

Myth Romney and McCain and (maybe) Bush the Younger and definitely Robert Dole and Bush the Elder and Gerald Feckless Ford and Richard Nixon were or ARE progressives.

The time for this Civil War is 24/7/365 until CONSERVATIVES win outright. A smidgeon better than a communist Demonrat is NOT the standard. Conservatism, full throated and total CONSERVATISM IS the standard.

Since you figured out while worshiping at the elephant uber alles shrine what Obozo was, is and always will be, you were so blinded by the sacred tusks as not to realize what a tool McCain was, is and always will be and then, four years later, what a despicable leftist phony Myth Romney was born to be, was, is and always will be, I'll pass on your advice to join you in cowardice.

If you want to make a partisan fool of yourself without apparent reason, feel free. Your vote is yours to waste. My vote is mine to cast against leftism in all of its incarnations. I will continue to make that decision on my own without the advice of those who "suck it up" to vote for radicals in Republican drag.
